It's So Pretty....

The most frustrating thing about the Lightsworn deck is that about 70% of the cards that you need are foil, and 9 of them are secret rares. Meaning that it can almost show up Teleport-Dark Armed for the most expensive deck in the format. But I LOVE the deck. It is absolutely my play style, slowly gaining control of the field and then exploding with all of the fury of a supernova but without all of it's radioactive side effects. It is also very customizeable in the spell and trap area, allowing for very different builds to emerge. You can even use very different monsters if you're crazy enough to try it.

The deck is also very moody, kind of like my ex-girlfriend. If it doesn't get good mills, then you are fighting a losing battle with your deck, not to mention that your opponent is trying to beat you as well. The solution to this is to play as few low-utility cards as possible, meaning that almost every card should be able to be used in an instant and in most situations. This high-utility Lightsworn build has not come to any one's attention yet, and I am not about to sacrifice the all out intensity that is so classic for this deck.

So what do you do to make the most of the cards that you will be milling to the graveyard? You play garveyard effects of course! so her eis my favorite Lightsworn build as of yet. I don't have the cards for it, but I imagine that once I do, I'll be looking pretty fly.

We're Way Off Course...

The best way to describe this build is ??? There are no Necro Gardna, and I am playing only 2 of the deck's signature cards, Lumina and Lyla. I am also packing a pair of Lightsworn Saber, a card that many consider to be a bad card. I beg to differ. One of the reasons that zombie Master is better than Lumina is because he has 1800 ATK. So with a milled Saber, Lumina becomes 1700 and is now not so weak and vulnerable. Even one equipped onto a basica Lightsworn like Jain makes her able to trade with a Goyo Guardian or Dark Armed Dragon in battle. Not to mention that celestia becomes a 3000 ATK powerhouse that can kill anything in the game.

The otehr change that is big is that I am not playing the little warrior that could, Necro Gardna. This is because he is a good mill, but not even close to a Lightsworn monster, which I need to have as many different kinds as possible in order to turn my dead Judgment Dragons into playable winners. I also think that the card just delays the inevitable. I would rather have a deck totally based on offense, with Honest for support. The card choices inthis deck reflect that.

Extra copies of Garoth and Jain make ideal first turn plays. In fact your best opening is to play Charge of the Light Brigade milling Garoth and then search for lumina with Charge's effect. Hopefully, you will have an Honest in hand to protect Lumina, or maybe mill a Saber or two. Jain is kind of the ugly stepchild of this play, you can just normal summon her and mill 2.

Card Trooper is anotehr off pick, but works well here both for his milling ability and drawing ability. Most people would assume that a set card against Lightsworn will be a Ryko, and thus they will waste their destruction effects on it rather than killing Ryko by battle so you can claim it's effect. Imagine their surprise when they hit a Card Trooper instead and you get to draw. Priceless. He also has 1900 ATK when boosted, making him ideal for a good turn aggro play with Wulf and such.

In fact the deck just oozes pure aggro. Everything either had high ATK or gets to something that does. Everything else in the dck is pretty standard, with Lyla, Lumina, Ehren and Ryko all doing what they do best.

Well, sorry for the short article today, but school has been taking a toll on my sleep time, and I need to be alert for anything. You can reach me at raptor1k@hotmail.com for any questions or whatnot.

Thanx for reading!
