Cry of the Dead-A Different Approach to Zombies

Sept 26, 2007

Soil Can't Hold It's Secrets...

The last Shonen Jump has proved that Zombies are very competitive. The plays that they can make are huge. The ability to Swap and then Special Summon as many as two monsters is crazy good. Then they replace the advantage lost from overextending with the Card of Safe Return. This fortells that ZOmbies will be a force in the future, and many different versions will likely come out. I have come up with one of my own, that builds on the success of ZOmbies as well as the old reliable monarch builds.

One Bite Can Be Fatal!

This deck is very fun to play around with. You can add more Monarchs in order to give it more muscle, but I stuck with only three. I love most of these cards, but here is an explanation of some of the more controversial choices.

Spell Striker-I love this little guy. 600 damage is not amazing, but the fact that you take no damage from battle with him makes it a very safe way to inflict that little bit more damage. He is also a safe bet for tribute fodder, allowing Raiza to be summoned easily.

Card of Safe Return- I decided not to include this card simply because of the presence of Treeborn Frog. Treeborn is more important to the deck than the CoSR simply because it has higher tribute monsters.

Dust Tornado-A really good card for Zombie decks, allowing you to attack without fear of that lurking Sakuretsu or the gaining popularity of Bottomless Trap Hole.

The Swarm of the Undead

The deck uses many different ways to swarm the field as well as offer them as a tribute for your Ryu Kokki's as well as Monarchs. Creature Swap is very good, not only for swapping Pyramid Turtle, but for swapping Spell Striker as well as Sangan and any other monster. Then INstant Fusion can be used to Special Summon Reaper on the Nightmare and then offer it as a tribute for your tribute monsters. Then you can revive it with Book of Life.

Soule Exchange allows the cool things that it always does, as well as clearing out facedowns that might prove troublesome. Zombie MAster is great, as it allows you to swarm as well as get even more tribute fodder for your tributes. This deck has so many little tricks that I haven't even begun to explore them all. Build the deck and tell me what you guys all find out.

Sorry for the short article, but I am so tired I almost fell asleep writing it at 1 in the afternoon. If you want to contact me, I am raptor1k@hotmail.com

Till next time Thanx for reading!
