Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
Rumors of my death have been GREATLY exaggerated
4.12.06

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! Sorry for my two week plus disappearance, but it's been a long, very complicated couple of weeks for me with school, work, and OH, yeah, I spent last week in the hospital with bronchitis and had my tonsils removed. However, that's enough about me.

Anyway, I return of course to talk about one of my favorite things, and the REAL title of this is Spellcasters--the Forgotten Decktype Part 4.

Today, I'll be talking about two Spellcaster support cards that haven't yet found their way into our game here in the United States yet.

The first is a monster, Magician's Valkyria who bears a striking resemblence to Dark Magician Girl (art wise.)

Magician's Valkyria
Level 4
1600 atk. 1800 def.
Light/Spellcaster/Effect

Effect: As long as this card remains face up on the field, your opponent cannot select another Spellcaster on your side of the field as an attack target.

So, in short, Magician's Valkyria is to Spellcasters as Maruading Captain is/was to Warriors. Valkyria if on the field in multiples, would create a no attack lock for you. Two or more face up on the field all result in your opponent not being able to attack.

Also, let's look at her attack and defense. 1600 attack is enough to take out any searcher you'll find, Don Zaloog, Sangan, and isn't that enough for commonly played monsters. 1800 defense is enough to hold it's own, at least from most commonly played monsters as beatdown isn't really played much anymore.

The second card I'll be looking at is Magical Academy, a Magic card used by Yugi in the Doma Arc in the episode "A New Evil Part 2"

Magical Academy
Quickplay Magic
Effect

Sacrifice one monster on your side of the field. Special Summon one Spellcaster monster from your hand. That monster increases its attack by 500 points and increases its monster level by 2.

Yugi used this to summon his Dark Magician Girl and a Diffusion Wave-Motion combo to win him that duel.

This is essentially Magical Dimension, but with a couple of key differences. Instead of having the option to destroy a monster, your selected monster gains an attack and level bonus, which isn't bad, but if the destruction were in there TOO...all right that might be a bit much for a card.

I like this card, nearly as much as Magical Dimension, but I'm happy with what there is...for once. Well, that does it for today, and I'll try to get a couple more article out this week and next. I've got finals in college in two weeks, and I'll be completele timeless there.

However, May starts my summer, so I'll have more time to write, and I'm excited for that. Please feel free to contact me with anything, even your deck, @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

NOTE: DO NOT SEND TRADITIONAL CHAOS DECKS, OTHER Traditional decks are fine, but NO CHAOS PLEASE

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
