Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
Character Cards

3.31.05

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! I don't know about you guys, but I'm a HUGE fan of the anime. Today, I'm going to go over a few cards that we've seen in Yugi's, Kaiba's, or Joey's deck that I'd like to see come out in English.

Also, on a side note, I'm doing a Spirit and a Fire deck. You'll see a deck for BOTH in the next article. Scout's honor *does boy scout salute dealy*

Let's start with Yugi:

Curtain of Black Magic (Dark Magic Curtain in English)

Normal Spell

Effect: At the cost of half your lifepoints, special summon one Dark Magician from your deck. You may not summon any other monster in the turn this card is activated, including flip or special summon. (However, you can still set
monsters.)

Now, for those of you who DO watch the anime, you know that we've only seen this card once. Yugi didn't use it either, Arkana (Pandora) did but Yugi does use it in his rematch with Raphael, so it counts.

Running a Spellcaster deck myself, I anxiously await the release of this card.
As for it's release, I can only really say we should get it before Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, that's about it and you all know how long we've wanted BEUD right?

This card obviously gets a 9.5/10 in a Dark Magician deck Not perfect because of the cost, it could be a lot of lifepoints

Card #2 Iron Maiden (Magical Dimension in English) Quickplay Spell

This card was used by Yugi in his duel against Marik.

Effect: Sacrifice one monster on your side of the field to negate the attack of one of your opponents monsters. You may also special summon one Spellcaster from your hand by the effect of this card.

Yugi used this to sacrifice Obelisk to save himself from Ra and he summoned Dark Magician at the end of his turn. This is an interesting card. Being quickplay is a bit of a plus over normal spells. However, this may not be a godsend. It only protects you from one attack but you get a free summon! ^^

This card gets an 7.9/10 It has potential, but has to be used at the right time.

Joey

Gilford the Lightning
Light/Warrior
Level 8
2800-1200

Effect: If you successfully tribute 3 monsters for this card, destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field.

Wow, this guy is just wow. In my opinion, 3 tribute for a Raigeki is worthwhile, especially since Raigeki is banned. Yes, I KNOW we have Lightning Vortex. Here's the thing about this card, how does such a lucky duelist like Joey, with so many crapped cards get a card like this? In Battle City and Doma we see Joey getting all these AWESOME cards...like what? Fiber Jar, Maruading Captain, Gilford...These cards DO have places in his deck but where does he get them? Enough complaints. Anyway, this monster is amazing. He's even searchable by Witch of the Black Forest in Traditional. He's Light, meaning Kaiser Sea Horse makes him 2 tribues.

I give Gilford the Lightning 9.5/10 in a Warrior and/or Light deck.
However, he only get a 7.5/10 elsewhere, he won't just fit in

Panther Warrior
Earth/Beast-Warrior
Level 4
2000-1600

Effect: This monster cannot attack unless you sacrifice another monster first.

Here's the deal with Panther Warrior...he sucks. Well, maybe I'm being a little hard on him. He doesn't SUCK, but he does suck. You know? Sacrificing another monster just for a 2000 tribute-less attack isn't all that great. However, he could just be a 2000 attack wall for a turn or two until you draw Jinzo or the like, right? He could have a place in a Warrior deck, but he isn't a necessity.

Panther Warrior earns a 5.5/10

Kaiba

Shrink
Quickplay Magic

Effect: Reduce one attacking monsters attack by half until the end phase of the turn.

This is a cool card. I mean, I really like this card. Just think, you're DD Warrior Lady is being attacked (for whatever reason) by a BLS and you play this. They both get destroyed and their BLS is removed from play. Evil isn't it. This card does have a lot of potential, but isn't going to single-handedly win you and duels.

Shrink earns a solid 7.45/10

Dragon Seeker
Dark/Fiend
Level 6
2000-2100

Effect: When this monster is summoned (excluding Special Summon) destroy one face-up Dragon type monster on the field.

Now, this card has a very unique and yet very specific effect. The destruction effect is cool, but the thing that brings this card down is the fact that it's limited to Dragon type monster ONLY. So, unless you're dueling Kaiba or a Dragon deck, there's no real use for this card. However, it could feed Dark Necrofear and Mystic Plasma Zone would boost it to a one tribute 2500 attacker.
Not bad, but we do already have Ha Des and Summoned Skull.

Dragon Seeker gets a 5/10 Just an average card

Well, I hope you enjoyed this and be sure to look for my next article where I'll have a Fire and a Spirit deck ready to show off ^^

Feel free to contact me about anything, @ tsearcy@lssu.edu Also, I go to college at Lake Superior State University, so if any of you are there also, or close by, find me and we'll duel! I'll give you a rare card if you defeat me.

Until next time, you stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
