Today's News
2.16.05

Hello again to Yugioh and Pojo fans one and all!

First off, I have a couple of comments to make. I don't know how many of you read JAELOVE's article on Monday, but wow, I hope each and everyone of you paid attention to the very end. Jaelove, I will defend the game with you!
Everything he said is true. I couldn't agree more, spread the word, keep Pojo and Yugioh alive! Keep them going strong, show your support!

On a nice little side note--Happy Belated Valentine's Day :)

Now, enough about that. I'd like to give a little "news" to you all today. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been eagerly awaiting some cards.
Let's say like...oh...Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon? Have any of you heard of him?
Well, I've got good news and bad news which you all may or may not be aware of.
First off, I've heard from UDE that Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon WILL be released.
However, the bad news is they are unaware as to when. So it could be Flaming Entity (but it IS NOT) or it could be years from now. In a way, this is good.
Awaiting such a card that you know is coming but don't know when gives you a sense of hope. It gives you something to expect and another reason to buy XXXXX booster, right? However, some people tend to get impatient about these things. All good things come to those who wait. Whether you want Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon because you feel it's simply time or we were given Blue Eyes Shining Dragon, rest assured, he is coming.

Also, I'd like to talk to you about something else. I've entitle this "buying vs. buying." Please note BEFORE you read this...I may unintentionally offend people by doing this, so if you get offended THAT IS NOT MY INTENTION AND I FORMALLY APOLOGIZE BEFOREHAND!!!

Now, what is "buying vs buying?" BUYING is where you go to the store, your Wal Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc. and buy packs to collect your cards and make your deck. Buying is where you, for whatever reason, have an excess amount of cash at all times and buy all your cards online rather than from boosters. Now, don't get me wrong. I think it's cool the internet sells Yugioh cards.
Getting a single card or two you need that you couldn't pull is fine. But when you are spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars for Exodia sets, Hours sets, BLS Envoy, CED Envoy, Mirror Force or whatever else to make yourself invincible, come on! I personally have only ever bought ONE card of the internet, and I was sad that I had to resort to it. It was a Dark Magician of Chaos. I bought 8 boxes of Invasion of Chaos, pulled 2 BLS-Envoys, 1 CED-Envoy, and about every other Super and Ultra EXCEPT DMoC so I bought him online. I don't even have a Mirror Force or a Raigeki. (Luckily they're on the banned list now.) I got a Magic Cylinder out of a Dark Magician tin in 2004. For those of you who only (or simply can't afford the internet) buy boosters, congrats. Remember the excitment of pulling a card from a pack? A cool Secret Rare or even less that you wanted so bad. The feelings are incredible. I remember pulling a 1st edition Breaker from my 1st pack of Magicain's Force. I was so happy I almost died. Where I live, I get boosters a bit later than some of my friends who ALL had Breaker's already from trading or buying and I pulled a 1/e from a pack. So, do what you want, but I find my cards mean more when I pull them.

For my last point today, I'm going to talk about Yugioh involvement. However skilled a duelist you may be, it's always a good idea to be involved in your community. I'm so busy with college and work, that I sometimes go weeks or even a month or more without touching my deck. I make it a point to go at least one weekend a month to my local card shop and have a duel. I enjoy this because I see duelists of various skill levels. If it's a novice, I like taking time to help them construct a deck, show them a strategy or two, and then have an instructive help duel with them just to help get the ball rolling.
Also, be NICE to duelists who may not be as good as you, especially n00bs. Why you ask? Because we were ALL n00bs once. Remember? You were, I was, and so was everyone else. I'll never forget, I use to have 4 Dark Magician's, I have
3 now though. (I have a LOB one, a SYE one, and a BPT one) but I also had a SDY one that was in rough shape. A bit creased here or there, heavily played.
I was showing some stuff to a 12 year old kid 2 years ago and he saw that Dark Magician and said "WOW, that's Yugi's favorite card, and mine too." So I gave it to him. Since I can only have three in a deck anyway...You don't have to be THAT nice, but whatever. Younger players look up to us more experienced players for help, guidance, and support.

Sorry for the shortness of my article today, I'll have another one here soon and I'll be constructing a very original mystery deck.

Today's Trivia Question:

When Joey is dueling Mai in the Doma arc the first time in Industrial Illusions and he turns Hermos into a Hammer with Time Wizard, what does Valon say after the hammer puts numbers on all of Mai's monsters? I need an EXACT quote, if off, it must be very VERY close. Sorry to be picky, but it IS a quote.

So, that's all for today, and here's some things to look forward to for next
time:

*A deck construction
*Useful Yugioh information
*Whatever craziness and zanyness I throw in here *A new Yugioh trivia question

As always, feel free to e-mail me at tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
