Hello Pojo Fans,

Droll & Lock Bird is still a useful side deck option. "Spellbook", "Mermail", and "Nekroz" are abused by this card with their strategy of adding cards over and over to their hands. You can use this card against any deck that does a decent amount of adding cards to their hand and at least prevent a big turn from your opponent.

During either players turn gives you more of a chance to use this card, but the decks that this card worked very well against aren't as strong as they used to be because of bans and limitations. Mermail could come back up, but it's all about if you want to commit a slot or more in the side deck to this card.

Droll & Lock Bird is (are?) a Level 1 Wind Spellcaster-type monster with 0 Atk and 0 Def. These stats are sad. At least Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit is (are?) a tuner monster. The effect is also sad. AFTER your opponent gets a card to their hand outside of the Draw Phase, you can discard Droll & Lock Bird to lock both the opponent and you out of that type of effect for the rest of the turn. The problem with this Hand Trap is that it doesn't really stop anything. Either your opponent gets to draw or your opponent gets to search and then you drop this and they can't do it anymore. Mistake does this as a Continuous Trap Card and negates the search. Even Mistaken Arrest would be better as a search deterrent in some kind of search war mirror match. This gives you no advantage and just delays some plays.

Score: 2/5 It does ruin Exodia's day.
Art: 4/5 Who names a kid Droll?

Droll & Lock Bird

Instead of elaborating on all the things that this monster is, let’s check off the things this monster isn’t. Then we can get a clear picture of how much this card is not good whatsoever, even though one’s brain might argue “hey, this is a good side deck option for certain situations.” Ready?

No attack or defense, not a tuner, effect is a -1 to your hand and doesn’t hit your opponent for any resources, can’t be used during the draw phase so quick play spells that add cards such as Quick Charger don’t worry about it, can’t be chained to prevent an initial attempt to add a card to hand, doesn’t prevent adding cards from grave or field to hand – only the deck, and just to add insult to injury, it’s one of the stupidest names in the game.

There is no reason to play this card, even in a side deck. None. Mistake or Mistaken Arrest are much better. Seriously, use this as a coaster.
