As people may or may not be aware, I like to include a Magic and/or Trap card in weeks I select when possible, and this week I have selected Smashing Horn, an excellent Trap card.  Simply put, we have here, a Counter-Counter Trap (or for the unintelligent) a Trap that Counters a Counter Trap.  This is best used against Solemn Judgment and Solemn Warning, just for starters.  But this also works on Monster Effects.  When your opponent activates a Trap or Monster Effect that negates the Normal or Special Summon of a Monster, you counter with this, and said card is negated and destroyed.  If you aren't maining this, I'd side at least one.  It may be tech, but it's awesome.

Smashing Horn

Today's card is yet another downgraded version of a card we already have, except with one minor advantage. Smashing Horn stops the opponent from negating your summons, and unlike Seven Tools of the Bandit, it can stop a monster. This means you can stop Thunder King Rai-Oh and Steelswarm Roach, but that's pretty much it. Use Seven Tools of the Bandit and you can stop other traps, too.

But this is too little too late. Cards like Solemn Judgment and Solemn Warning aren't much of a threat any more because of Heavy Storm + 3 Mystical Space Typhoon. You'll almost always be able to blow those cards up before they can stop your summons--and they opponent will probably destroy Smashing Horn before it can negate them negating your summon.

1.7/5
Art: Manticore of Darkness VS the Horns of Heaven.
Fun Fact: Manticore of Darkness seems to like smashing things.
Tomorrow: This card is wonderful.

Smashing Horn is a waste of a secret rare, similar to Mystical Refpanel. It’s a counter for anything that destroys the normal or special summon of a monster. It says no to the Solemn Brigade, if Judgement is used on a summon, as well as Thunder King or possibly Doom Caliber Knight if DCK’s effect is used on something like a Tengu or Lonefire. This card is quite situational, as most times any duelist using this card will be waiting for solemn warning to counter it. Mystical Space Typhoon at 3 and Heavy at 1, better just place this card in the binder and hope that somebody wants it.
