Wednesday

Grenosauras a Dinosaur Xyz Monster, of the Fire attribute, with 2000 attack and 1900 defense, who is Rank 3, and Xyz Summoned with two Level 3 Monsters. Now, like yesterday, you are very likely using Tuners for this if you do this at all, unless you are playing a Deck specifically for Xyz Monsters...or maybe say Lightsworn, Zombies, where Level 3 Monsters might be naturally flowing. Like yesterday, I feel you don't blow off Tuners to do an Xyz Summon. I've been looking hard at Generation Force, there's a lot more of these guys coming, and some are just ridiculous...requiring more than two Monsters for an Xyz Summon, or requiring two (or more) Level 8 Monsters...it's easier to Summon Synchros who require other Synchros than stuff like that. Anyway, as for this card, when this card destroys an opponent's Monster by Battle, you can detach an Xyz Material Monster, and inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. 1000 damage IS good, but I don't see this card being worth the investment. Only 2000 attack, you might be able to pull this effect off once. It IS better than yesterday...

Ratings:

1.75/5 all

But only marginally...

*on a closing adding to Monday...#39 Utopia, my score should actually be .25-.50 higher than it is...in short, being a #Xyz is good. A lot of the other #Xyz cards can only be destroyed by other Monsters that has # in it's name...so (eventually) it should read 2.5 +x /5 where x = the number of #Xyz Monsters your opponent runs that Utopia can kill

Will you be seeing much of this Rank 3 Xyz? Not much, outside of Karakuri decks that want more use out of Machine Duplication. Tour Guide from the Underworld can summon this, too, at the cost of Sangan and about $70. It's also a good emergency beater for Jurrac decks.

The damage effect is nothing special--all you'd use this for is the ATK, and maybe the DEF. Like most Xyz monsters, and by coincidence (what it'll usually be made with), this is the result of not having a non-Tuner to make a Synchro with, and not much else. If your opponent doesn't have much control over the duel, summoning this can put some pressure on them until they can top 2000 ATK, but most good decks can do that on a moment's notice, and you'll have lost the two monsters you used to make this.

Xyz monsters are tricky to rate. You can never quite know when they'll be summoned, what the materials will be, and what the situation will be. If you see a pair of monsters in your deck that are likely to come out together, try some Xyz monsters, and see how they work.

3.8/5
Art: Looks like Gantetsu.
Fun Fact: The .8 means it's in the middle of being in the middle.
Tomorrow: I don't like the common reprint >:(

Grenosaurus can win games and matches. This dino may not be a strong monster to Xyz summon early game but late game when your opponent is running out of resources, taken a lot of damage and/or gone through the whole line up of solemns, Grenosaurus will apply the pressure to close it out. He makes virtually any set chump blocker into an attack position and 0 attack token when he destroys the monster by battle and sends it to the graveyard. He can not activate his effect on tokens or if Dimensional Fissure or Macro Cosmos is active or any other card that would banish cards.

This is the first Rank 3 Xyz Monster the TCG is getting. This one is...okay, I guess. He requires 2 Level 3 monsters, and when he destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, you can detach an Xyz Material from him to burn for 1000. The burn isn't that bad, and a 2000 attacker isn't terrible. I feel like Konami was attempting to make something similar to Dark Strike Fighter, but watered it down so much that it's nowhere near as broken or even outstanding at all. Not a bad card, and 2000 damage and attack isn't terrible, but otherwise there's nothing too special about him. Obviously it becomes better later in the game when Life Points are lower. I think the main attraction for him might be giving up the two smaller monster for a bigger one, but at that point I'd rather just use a two-Tribute monster with a better effect.
