Delg, another Dark Monarch, and I like Caius better, as he does damage, and removes.  This guy, is kinda liek Caius on steroids, as you can remove up to two cards from your opponent's Graveyard, and then send the same number of cards from the top of their Deck to the Graveyard.

Now, for all that, Delg cannot attack in the turn it's Normal o Special Summoned.  It's not a big loss, but to not be able to attack with a monster you had to Tribute for, that's a letdown, I'm afraid.  I still think Caius is better, although this guy looks cooler.

Delg the Dark Monarch ...

… Because we needed ANOTHER Monarch …

Whatever. We have Delg. Same stats as all the other Monarchs. Nothing new here. He’s Dark like Caius (the best of the Monarch bunch) and he’s a Spellcaster. Is Delg worth even READING about? … short answer – Yes.

For starters, Delg assaults the most cards of any of the Monarchs. He can take up to 2 card (yes, all optional, so he can dodge those pesky cards that butcher monsters trying activate their effects) from ur opponent’s grave and remove them from play, and then take the same number (up to 2) from the top of your opponent’s deck and send to the grave. Now assuming u don’t mill anything POSITIVE for your opponent, u just sacked 4 of their cards. Very few cards can do that much. Of course there’s a drawback. He can’t attack the turn he’s summoned. And since he doesn’t clear the field in any way (and can actually make the field worse depending on what u mill), he’s probably best for a Main Phase 2 summon.

All in all – who cares, right?
Well, Delg has 1 more thing going for him that sets him apart from other Monarchs. He gets his effect regardless of HOW he is summoned. Tribute, normal, special … whatever. He gets his effect. Which plays nicely with the fact that he’s a Spellcaster, since they have tons of ways to get specialed to the field.

So, survey says – he’s not ‘great’, but he’s pretty good. He breaks the mold which is a good thing and can be a fun/strong addition to some interesting decks. … and he does it all while looking pretty badddd asssss.

If you're a Yugi sheep, you'll have seen the "Monarch" in "Delg the Dark Monarch" and had a heart attack. Well, don't be fooled, because this Monarch sucks. It's a double D.D. Crow, but only on your turn, during your Main Phase, on no chain (hey, "on" is "no" backwards!), and eating up a monster and a summon. Then, he mills 2 cards from the opponent's deck, which is not a good thing, and can't attack.

Delg sucks. If you're getting actual use out of him, you'll get a lot more use out of Caius. That is all.

1.5/5
Art: Caius doesn't approve.
Fun Fact: I heard there were super secret Dark Djinn in the new Golden Sun. Maybe not, but you should get it anyway.
Tomorrow: You'll have all day to play your new Golden Sun: Dark Dawn!

Pheano

Hey Pojo, Pheano here with another Card Of The Day For you.

Today we will be taking a look at one last card from Startstrike Blast before the weekend, Delg The Dark Monarch. Delg The Dark Monarch is a Dark Spellcaster type Monster with twenty-four hundred Attack and one thousand Defense. Its effect reads: When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can select up to 2 cards in your opponent's Graveyard, remove them from play. Then send the same number of cards from the top of their Deck to the Graveyard. During the turn it is Normal or Special Summoned, this card cannot attack.

The only competitive use I can see for this card would be in a Macro Cosmos deck revolving around abusing cards like this and Necroface to deck out your opponent. With Necroface still Limited though the deck has little potential this format. Also the deck type was originally pioneered as a counter to Lightsworns so with its best match up so low in play the deck’s good match ups are very limited. This can also be good against decks like Infernities, Zombies and Frogs but you don’t really have a chance of decking them out since their decks aren’t as fast as a Lightsworn deck in terms of how fast they move through their cards. Outside of that one deck this card will forever be overshadowed by Raiza The Storm Monarch and Caius The Shadow Monarch since they will directly net you card advantage and board control where as this is just a part of a gimmick. One last thing is the last part of its effect is just completely unnecessary, its effect is already sub par so the fact that it cannot Attack when it is Summoned limits is playability so much.

In the Traditional Format Tribute Summons are too slow and shouldn’t be played unless you are managing to play Vanities Fiend but aside from that stay away from Tribute Summons.

Bottom line:
This card doesn’t have a place in any top decks.

Puppet Master
The Legion

Today we take a look at Delg the Dark Monarch. I’m not really too impressed with this new addition to the Monarch clan. His effect can be useful; however there are better cards to use than Delg. Another downside is that Delg, just like his buddy Kuraz, can’t attack the turn he is summoned. One good thing about Delg is that his ability does activate when he’s special summoned, so if he’s in your graveyard and you Call of the Haunted him during your opponent’s turn, you can get them by surprise with his removal ability. If used this way, it won’t even matter that he can’t attack that turn. All in all though, I don’t think Delg will see too much play in the Monarch line-up. There are just too many other 1 tribute monsters that are better; Caius, Jinzo, Prime Material, and Raiza just to name a few. There are also better cards in the “Graveyard Hate” crew too, D.D. crow and Skull Meister to name some specifics. Unfortunately for our Dark friend, it seems that in this format, he’ll just get overshadowed, and seeing him in play will be few and far between. Who knows though, in a format or two, Delg may just see some play, just look at Seven Tools of the Bandit if you don’t believe me.

The
Crowing

The newest monarch, Delg. Who is....horrible. He is a DARK, Spellcaster with the monarch stats. Ok, so good so far, stats are good, attribute is great and type is meh.

Now, on to his horrible effect, whenever he is normal or special summoned you can remove two cards from your opponents grave from play, then send the top two cards from their deck to the grave. Now since a lot of decks actually LIKE milling, this may not be such a good idea, though i suppose you COULD remove something important with Delg's effect like Plague or Stardust, provided they are in the grave, but these chances are few and far inbetween, you're better off running D.D crow instead.

Oh and also he cant attack the turn he is summoned, whether he uses his effect or not.

Delg is bad for the same reason Kuraz is bad, he deviates from the monarch formula.

Traditional- 1/5
Advanced-1/5
Art- Apparently Cauis, Raiza and Mobius had a baby somehow.
