Dark Paladin
Monday

Well, we continue to look at Phantom's Darkness cards this week, and we have some great stuff lined up for you loyal readers. That being said, we start with Dark Grepher.

Dark Grepher is a Level 4 monster of the Dark attribute, (who would have thought?), who is also a Warrior with 1700 attack and 1600 defense. Now, our Grepher has the ability to be Special Summoned if you discard a Level 5 or higher Dark monster from your Hand to your Graveyard.

That's good, a 1-for-1 right there. Furthermore, if you discard another Dark monster from your Hand, you can search your Deck for a different Dark monster and also send that monster to your Graveyard.

Dark Grepher fits in a couple of Decks nicely. First, he isn't a terrible option for Warrior Chaos in Traditional, being both Dark and a Warrior. He fits well into the Dark Armed Dragon deck, as he can continue to send Dark monsters until your desired total of three is reached. He might even fit as tech in a Diamond Dude Turbo/Perfect Circle Deck.

Ratings:

Traditional: 3.75/5 For reasons listed above.

Advanced: 3/5 On his own, he's not so great, nor is he too
splashable.

Advanced Dark Armed Dragon/Diamond Dude Turbo/Perfect Circle: 5/5

Carrotizer Dark Grepher
DARK / Level 4
Warrior/Effect
1700 ATK / 1600 DEF
You can discard 1 Level 5 or higher DARK monster to Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can discard 1 DARK monster to send 1 DARK monster from your hand to the Graveyard.

If Foolish Burial, Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, and Volcanic Rocket were not yet released, this card would be the best Sneak Preview Promo.

This card just adds tremendous speed to new PTDN cards. Discard Jinzo or Blowback Dragon, even Malicious, cards that are usually “bad” in hand to Special Summon this -> discard another DARK (Disk Commander, Malicious) -> 3 DARK in Graveyard -> Strike Ninja/Dark Creator/Dark Armed Dragon rampage

Obviously discarding can be hefty, and there is Armageddon Knight, an alternate version. However, 1700 ATK is incomparable to 1400 ATK; 1400 ATK is probably the worst ATK. Spirit Reaper/Don Zaloog following Mystic Tomato just hurts.

Now, although Mystic Tomato cannot search Dark Grepher, Reinforcement of the Army (one of the best support cards) can still grab this when you need him. Compared to Armageddon Knight, who may be destroyed by Pulling the Rug, Dark Grepher is sturdier.

I personally like this card over Armageddon Knight because Armageddon Knight is more of…a free Foolish Burial for DARK monsters, whereas Dark Grepher is more of turn-dead-cards-in-hand-into-speed. Try him. He looks wicked.

Traditional: 2/5 Can you afford all the cards to discard?
Advanced: 4/5 *shrug* so many possible combinations
The First Hokage Dark Grepher

Today we look at the Sneak Preview Card and one of the Secret Rares put into Phantom Darkness. This guy isn't that bad of a card at all. He's a Warrior 4 Stars with stats of 1700/1600. His effect is pretty decent too. You can discard 1 level 5 or higher Dark monster to Special Summon him from your hand.
Once per turn, you can discard 1 Dark Monster to send 1 dark monster from your deck to the grave.

Basically, Grepher will just dump dark monsters into the grave to fuel the big guys like Dark Armed Dragon, The Dark Creator, and Darklord Zerato in order for them to get out faster. The fact that he is also special summoned just by discarding 1 level 5 or higher monster isn't that bad either. I am not sure if would run him in the dark deck, but he's a nice option for dumping darks into the grave.

In Traditional, I don't see him making an impact, obviously much better options for dumping cards into the grave.

My Ratings:

Advanced: 3.7/5
Traditional: 1.2/5

Dark Grepher
We kick off the week with more Phantom Darkness card reviews, starting with the Sneak Preview promo card "Dark Grepher". I have heard and seen many mixed feelings and ideas about this card, but to tell you the truth, this card is a crazy fast dumper that justs dumps any necessary Dark monsters into your graveyard, mostly to special summon or activate the effects of the killer new Dark monsters in Phantom Darkness. This guy has 1700 ATK/1600 DEF for a solid beatstick, is a Dark Warrior, can be special summoned from your hand by discarding a Level 5 or higher Dark monster from your hand, and once a turn you can discard a Dark monster to send a Dark monster from your deck to the graveyard. Now, let me list the pros about this card:
  1. Can be special summoned by discarding a Level 5 or higher Dark monster from your hand.
  2. A solid beatstick.
  3. Warrior, so it is searchable by Reinforcement of the Army and the new Field Commander Rahz.
  4. Dark, so it can help it a Dark-Theme deck excellently.
  5. Dumps multiple Dark monsters into graveyard fast.
  6. Helps Exodia decks to dump Exodia pieces into graveyard and return them to hand later with Dark Factory of Mass Production, Dark Eruption, Backup Soldier, etc.
This card should see some play and will definitely be seen at future Shonen Jump Championships and Regionals soon for OTKS, Dark-Theme decks and such.

Traditional: 3/5 (Helps supply the dark monsters in graveyard for Chaos monsters)
Advanced: 4/5 (Should definitely see some play soon; don't underestimate it!)
Art: 3.5/5 (The dark version of Warrior Da Grepher is pretty sppoky and cool)
Pwii ok, sorry i havent been keeping up that well, but I'm going to do better this week! todays card is dark grepher.

this card is perfect for a deck using dark horus and dark armed dragon and the like. if you got no monsters on the feild, this, dark horus, and dark armed dragon in your hand, if dark armed dragon is a dead card you can either summon it, use it's effect discarding horus to make three darkies in the grave, then summon dark dragon. or you could discard dragon to special summon him and then tribute it for horus. then when your opponent plays a spell you can get him back!

awesome piece of tech for new dark decks.

5/5 trad. this deck could side in some light monsters and chaos.

5/5 adv. you could even run 3 dark dragons with this and a few trade-in's!

Monday:

Hey this is Aaron here, and I am starting my long (hopefully) CotD reviews with the newest Sneak Promo/PTDN Secret: Dark Grepher. He is one of the newest cards to come out for you to work into your DAD decks or just dark in general. With a great 4 star 1700/1600 his effect makes many new things possible that I want you to take a look at. His first effect I’ll get to later, but right now lets look at his second. Once per turn you can discard 1 dark monster to send 1 dark monster from your deck to your graveyard.  Is this screaming to anyone STRIKE NINJA!!! He is the exact same type, attribute, attack, and does everything you need to help the deck run even better.  This monster will let you put 2 dd scout planes in your graveyard, probably either live or die your opponents turn, than you can summon strike ninja to score some advantage. We’ve all seen the deck and if not just check the advance deck section on your local Pojo Forum.  This effect really helps with all the new “Dark…” cards that just came out in the new set to. Need exactly 3 to get your Special Summon DAD? Well this card will get you 2 and than if he’s destroyed that looks to me like three.

Now lets look at his second effect. You can discard one level 5 or higher dark monster to special summon this card from your hand.  Hmmmm…. This card looks even better now than ever. Discard that useless Jinzo that you can’t use right now just so than you can premature the shiz out of it for some serious action. Or how about in your strike ninja deck (I will keep bring this deck up because this card along with its buddy Armageddon knight does some serious damage in it) special summoning is the key to that deck with swarm, THIS EFFECT DOES JUST THAT! Destiny Dasher, DMOC, Jinzo, Plasma, etc so many key cards that you probably use can do so much synergy with this card.

Its great just great

Rating:

Traditional 1.75/5   You might want to get 2 darks in the graveyard (really just need one) but there’s better options

Advance in the decks I talked about (Strike/ “Dark… Decks”) 4.25/5

Better options: Not that Armageddon is necessarily better is does give more capabilities with his mystic tomato and Trigger effect.

Problems with the way I write: I don’t care really, but really just PM on the forums: name- Spaceman.
