As long as this
card remains face-up on your side of the field, when
Beast-Warrior and Winged Beast-Type monsters on your
side of the field attack with an ATK that is higher
than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position
monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to
your opponent's Life Points.

Enraged Battle Ox
Enraged Battle Ox just becomes more sick and wrong
with each passing metagame change.
We already know the basics of this card -- it's 1700
and has Trample, and gives Berserk Gorilla and his
friends Trample as well. Both of those out on the
field at once are a force to be reckoned with.
Scapegoat use is still high, so doing 1700 a turn
through the Goats AND not having to worry about it
switching into Defense a la Spear Dragon is
excellent. With Zombie decks on the rise, everyone
and their mom is running Spirit Reaper (literally;
at the Regionals, there was a mom who also played
the game -- very well, I might add -- and she was
running a couple of Reapers too), and that punishes
them for 1500 a turn. Magician of Faiths are being
played in 2s and 3s, along with Apprentice Magician.
Although they'll most likely have a way to deal with
the Enraged after they get a card back from
Magician, they'll have paid dearly for it.
A good few semi-Beastdown decks were seen at the
4-10 Regionals -- at the low-numbered tables with
good records, where they belonged. Expect to see
more and more of this card as we play with the
current ban list.
Traditional: 3/5 (works well against elemental
searchers and Sangan/Witch; quick damage is the name
of the game there...but 3/5 is even pushing it
because monsters get cleared off the field
practically every turn with Dark Hole and Raigeki.)
Advanced: 4/5 (low Defense monsters being played in
almost every deck and getting set every game is
basically just begging for Enraged to punish 'em for
it.)

Enraged Battle Ox
With Beast Decks recently having gotten a lot of
support, Enraged Battle Ox is seeing more play. He’s
a rather solid monster, with 1700 ATK; and his
trample effect is definitely nice, especially with
Scapegoat running so rampant.
The effect is simple. If you attack DEF monsters,
you’ll still do damage. If your other Beasts,
Beast-Warriors or Winged Beasts attack DEF monsters,
they’ll still do damage. This is a great card to
have on the field if you’re swarming your opponent
with Berserk Gorillas or Manticores of Darkness;
alone, he’s not so great.
Don’t put him in a Chaos Deck or a Burner or a WATER
Deck; leave him in Beast Decks; for in those, he’s
excellent. And rentsy.
(On another note, tomorrow marks the one-year
anniversary of the time I started writing Cards of
the Day. If anyone cares. Which I’m sure none of you
do.)

Enraged Battle Ox
The final card of Shonen Jump week is Enraged Battle
Ox, a Beast Deck Staple.
Enraged has what is slowly becoming a standard for
Level 4 or lower monsters; 1700 ATK. With it Enraged
is of course vulnerable to beatsticks, but it can
beat the pants off of most “staple” monsters. It’s a
Beast-Warrior, making it effect itself with its
effect, and what an effect it is.
As long as Enraged remains face-up on the field, all
Beasts, Beast-Warriors, and Winged Beast gain a
Trample ability. I’m sure you all know what the
Trample ability is, so I won’t lecture you on what
it means. Instead, I’ll point out a few notable
monsters it affects: Enraged (of course), Berserk
Gorilla, King Tiger Wanghu, Chiron the Mage, and
Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys.
A Sacred Phoenix with a Trample ability… Killer… If
you want to bring out the full potential of this
effect use a few Enemy Controllers, Book of Moons,
or Swords of Concealing Lights. Ah the damage it can
do… All in all, Enraged is, as has already been
said, a Beast Deck staple. In addition he seems to
be pretty high on the monster staple list; I guess a
1700 ATK monster with a built in trample is
attractive? Probably…
Advanced: 4/5. The effect works best in a Deck with
large amounts of Beasts.
Traditional: 3.5/5. It isn’t DARK or LIGHT, so who
wants to use it?
Overall: 3.75/5
Art: 3.5/5. It for some reason has an uncanny
resemblance to Battle Ox… Curious…
This guy + Mad Dog of Darkness + Beserk Gorilla =
wh0a
That's a lot of trample right there.
Earth = good
1700 = good
Beast-Warrior = good
Trample for 3 different monster types = wh0a
Sorry for such a short review, but his play is in
that Beast/Warrior deck and there isn't much else to
say about him.
Limited: 3.1/5 Wide-spread trample is good
Advanced: 4.2/5 Wide-spread trample is STILL good
Limited: Since this card, Mad Dog, and Beserk
Gorilla are all Rares, drafting them shouldn't be
hard. 4.8/5
Art: 4/5 So much cooler than the original Battle Ox
