the basic structure of a Beat-Down deck - Gothic Punk

Hey there guys. The Chazz here with a not-so-late breaking bulletin. Haha, just kidding. Anyway, I’ve had a lot of people ask me questions about the basic structure of a Beat-Down deck, so I decided to show you all my personal Beat-Down deck.. Maybe this will help, I certainly hope so:

Okay, in the beat-down, your primary circulation in the deck is the monsters, so look at this:

X2 Gemini Elf

X1 Luster Dragon

X1 Mad Dog of Darkness

As you can see, those are just normal monsters, but believe you me, they come in extremely handy at times when your effect monsters are either gone or unable to be used (and believe me, that can/will happen). Also, notice that those are all 1900 attackers.. True, you take a big risk using them with all those Bottomless Trap Holes running around, but nowadays, since the D.D. Survivor made it’s appearance, Trap Hole is all you need to worry about, and with PoA and PB out there, you need not worry too much. They will serve you well, I promise.

Now, for the effect monsters:

Breaker the Magical Warrior

Dark/Warrior/Effect/4[1600/100]

A great card when you summon him normally, for his counter effect. When you summon him, if he doesn’t trigger a chain, use the counter effect before they get the chance on you during battle. And if you need not use it just yet, then keep him at 1900 and kick some booty. Lol

Cyber Jar

Dark/Rock/Effect/3[900/900]

Perfect for retrieving your monsters when either in a jam, or you just want to be swift and ruthless. And think of this, if you don’t get the needed monsters, then you will get needed spells or traps, so it’s almost a win situation either way.

X2 D.D. Survivor

Dark/Warrior/Effect/4[1800/200]

Just in case you have to worry about any other D.D. monsters like the Warrior, Warrior Lady, or the Assailant. Or, if you opponent want to be a smart ass and thinks they can get rid of it with Bottomless Trap Hole without thinking.. And to think, real decent attack, but real puny defense..

D.D. Warrior Lady

Lightt/Warrior/Effect/4[1500/1600]

Decent attack, decent defense, and your solution to any overly abused monster (i.e. Cyber Dragon) But remember, only use this effect when needed, there is the easy possibility to trigger the effect too soon and screw yourself over badly..

Exiled Force

Earth/Warrior/Effect/4[1000/1000]

Basically your solution to any monster you don’t like. Just summon him and say goodbye to the monster you don’t like.

Goblin Attack Force

Earth/Warrior/Effect/4[2300/0]

Just for your basic power then defense, of course

Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv6

Fire/Dragon/Effect/6[2300/1600]

Primarily here for the fact that spells are of no use on him. Aside from the brutal 2300 attack he may induce, and his ability to evolve into Lv8, he’s also my favorite card in this deck.. So, guess who’s next on the list-

Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv8

Fire/Dragon/Effect/8[3000/1800]

Truly the strongest monster in this deck in terms of attack. A brutal 3000 attack points, you’ll hardly find another monster opposing you with the same attacks points, seeing is how with it on the field you decide which spells can or can’t be used. And used with Jinzo, it’s almost an unstoppable beast.

Injection Fairy Lily

Earth/Fairy/Effect/3[400/1500]

Ahh, the perfect Injection Fairy Lily. The most perfect, and yet most pointless to stop monster in the game. I take it you can pretty much guess why she’s in there.. Oh, I have a slight secret for most of you who happen to have problems with facing one.. When your opponent attacks with one, let them go ahead and boost, because when they boost, you can activate Barrel Behind The Door on them, which means they will take the 2000 for boosting, and then the next 3400 because it’s effect damage.. But only if they’re attacking you, not your monster.. But be careful, because it can be done to you as well.

Jinzo

Dark/Machine/Effect/6[2400/1500]

Ahh yes, Jinzo. The crème de la crème.. With a swell attack of 2400, a cost of one monster, and the ability to stop virtually ALL traps, the only things this monster has to fear are stronger monsters, and spells. An excellent use in this deck to stop those pesky Trap Holes, Bottomelesses, Widespread Ruins, and Call of the Haunteds.

Kykoo the Ghost Destroyer

Dark/Spellcaster/Effect/4[1800/700]

Say goodbye to those monsters in your opponent’s graveyard that you dislike, such as Cyber Dragon, or their Jinzo. Once you hit the life points with this bad boy, two of them may be removed at your descression.. you almost can’t go wrong with this guy here.

Magician of Faith

Light/Spellcaster/Effect/1[300/400]

Come on, what other reason would she be in here?

Marauding Captain

Earth/Warrior/Effect/3[1200/400]

Well, this can be quite an abused monster, can’t it? Once you normal summon him, you can bring out another lv4 or lower monster right after. So you can basically get out two of your best monsters on your first turn. And with the fact that your warriors can’t be assaulted with him on the field, he keeps them safe for a few moments as well.

Mystic Swordsman Lv2

Earth/Warrior/Effect/2[900/0]

The only reason he’s in here with no Lv4 in sight is because of your opponent’s monsters that are face down. Like a Cyber Jar, or Daikochi, or what not. Very handy I must say.

Spear Dragon

Wind/Dragon/Effect/4[1900/0]

This is what I call a perfect monster. An attack of 1900, a piercing ability, and best of all, once it attacks, it switches to defense to keep you safe. Now, just hope your opponent doesn’t pull out a freakishly powerful monster out wht the same piercing ability or a Fairy Meteor Crush hooked onto them..

And now the Spells:

Brain Control

Basic Spell

Why else use this than to take control of you opponent’s monsters and either insult them by attacking them with it, or sacrifice it, even Creature Swap it? All in all, good strategical move.

Dark Hole

Basic Spell

Please, I needn’t explain this one. But I shall in one context, get Horus Lv6 on the field and shoot this off. Everything but Horus is gone. Need I say more?

Hammer Shot

Basic Spell

Don’t ask. This deck can be easily overpowered, so this card will help keep you safe for about a half a turn. Lol

Heavy Storm

Basic Spell

Self explanatory I hope. If any of you need an explanation about this then you should give me your address so I can slap you silly.. haha j/k

Lightning Vortex

Basic Spell

What better way to get rid of all of your opponent’s face ups than with this? And all it costs you is one measly card from your hand.

Mystical Space Typhoon

Quick-play Spell

Destroy one spell or trap on the field, I’d say a must-have.

Pot of Avarice

Basic Spell

There as a monster retrieval. You need reinforcements, this is the best way to do it, but remember, you MUST have five mosters in your graveyard before you can use it..

Swords of Revealing Light

Basic Spell

Unless your opponent destroys it, a good way to stay safe for three turns when you’re in a jam. Trust me, they work well.

Premature Burial

Equip Spell

Pay 800 LP to summon one of your monsters in attack mode from your graveyard, I’d say that’s a good deal.

Scapegoat

Quick-play Spell

Perfect for defense when needed. Use carefully though

Snatch Steal

Equip Spell

Take control of you opponent’s monster. But by doing so you give them 1000 LP each of their turns. Take them out quickly or sacrifice it. Either way, don’t be too generous with the life points with this card.

And finally, the traps:

Bottomless Trap Hole

One-time use. That’s all this card is for. Use it once and on a freakishly large monster. Trust me, you won’t regret it when used properly.

Call of the Haunted

Go ahead, I dare you to bring Jinzo back with this. Perfect use of the card when needed. Sure, use it for others, but that’s just funny to use it for Jinzo, and quite ironic as well.

Magic Cylinder

Don’t waste this thing on and Injection Fairy Lily, I beseech you. It’s totally pointless. Save it for a worthy target like Cyber Dragon or Mobious(if he doesn’t blow I up first).

X2 Sakuretsu Armor

Yeah yeah, a stereo typically used card, I know. But hell, they work tremendously well when you’re being attacked. Sure, you could use Dimension Fusion, but that won’t destroy the monster, which is what a beat-down is supposed to do.

Torrential Tribute

Last resort. That’’s all this one is for. And believe me, it’s a real point savor..

X3 Trap Hole

Alas, the final stereo typical, and yet eldery-signifigantly overused card. Trust me, it works extremely well, I’ll tell you that right now. Lol

Welp, that’s it for me, I hope it does you some good. Fare well all. And don’t hesitate to email me with your suggestions and comments at gothicpunk@inbox.com. Lata playas
