Subject: Not really a tip, but read anyway--- Chet Li >From the "If I had a gun I would have shot myself." department here's a >story of a duel I actually had this week. If you have a weak heart I >suggest you read no further... Okay here's what happened. First off I was playing a Light/ Beatdown deck. It's full of lvl 4 high attack light monsters (guardian of the throne room etc.) Any way I play first... On the draw I pull cyberjar, raigeki, MoF, change of heart, and monster reborn. Now I didn't want to put down MoF since there wasn't any magic cards in the graveyard since it was turn one. So cyber jar it was. For some reason my opponent (don't remember what card he played) attacked me on his first turn. Flipped my cyber jar and cleared the field. Then we picked up the top 5 cards. I got 1 guardian of the throne (atk 1650/ light) and 2 hoshingen( light cards +500 attack) plus 3 magic cards I forget. He got 2 lvl 5 and above monsters, a MoF and a neo mystic swordsman, and a soul release. The MoF and neo went onto the field and he killed one of my hoshingen with neo and his turn was over. On my draw I got my other Guardian, summoned it to the field, used change of heart on his neo, played raigeki, used reborn on my hoshingen, and attacked his life points directly with all 5 monsters for 11000 pts! Not bad for my second turn. Now here's the nightmare part of the story, see I made the same mistake they always make in the anime, I forgot about his trap card that he set at the begining of his first turn. Thats right... Mirror force :( So there we were after all that both of us had no monsters on the field, no magic/trap cards set, and he had 8000 life and I had 7800. So what have we learned, First even though this combo (11000pts) was next to impossible, as long as you know how to use all the cards in your deck and your deck is stacked with good cards you will get combos like this once in a while. Second all combos that make use of many different cards and card types are destined for failure as it only takes one card to defend against. The more cards you use the more likely you are to have the combo broken, it just happened that the card he had didn't break the combo till the end but he could have used alot of cards to stop it, trap hole, waboku, horn of heaven, etc., even share the pain. So remember keep your combos/ tips short. If I had spread my attack over 3 turns by using only 2 card combos, monster reborn/ attack or change of heart/ attack etc. I would have come away with a quick 5 turn win. Instead of a 10 turn loss. --- Chet Li < I wound up winning the next 2 duels for a 2 to 1 victory though > :)
