Subject: Stuart W's Yu'gi-oh Top 10 Cards for Newbies
OK, I have a bit of spare time, so, as a newbie to the great game of Yu-gi-oh, I thought I'd stuff a load of cards onto an e-mail. Yup, this is my Top 10 list of Cards for Newbies! If anyone has any tips for me, please send them to christine@williams.fsnet.co.uk. Thanks!
10. Magic Drain: Very useful in any deck. When your opponent uses a Magic card, activate Magic Drain, and if they can't discard another Magic card, choose one of their Magic cards and destroy it! It's also a Counter card, so your opponent CAN'T use a Remove Trap on it. Only trouble is, if your opponent CAN discard a Magic card, too bad, you just wasted a card...

9. Dragon Capture Jar: Everyone uses dragons, right? BEWD, REBD, BSD, there are loads of them. So what if you were to, say, put all their dragons into defence position? And leave them like that? Heh heh heh...

8. Skull Lair: Dammit, that BEWD is so ANNOYING! So why not splat it once and for all? Simply play Skull Lair, remove cards from your graveyard equal to the target's number of stars, and kill it off! Great, huh? Not really. It's good for a bit, then you realise you just removed your own BEWD. Dang.

7. Shadow Ghoul: Sure, it's a zombie, it only has 1600 ATK and 1300 DEF, but its effect makes it a whole lot better. It increases its ATK by 100 for every monster in the graveyard. Great for a newbie deck, but it's pretty useless unless you get really splattered.

6. Monster Reborn: Surely you know what this does? Everyone should have one. No questions asked. No excuses. None of that, "I used to have one, but I traded it for a Petit Moth", or that "The dog ate mine". Geez...Some people...

5. Soul Release: Removes up to 5 cards from your opponents graveyard. Good if you've just wiped out that irritating BEWD. Also good when used in addition to...

4. Graverobber's Retribution: Does 100 Direct Damage to your opponent's life points for each card removed from their graveyard! Per turn! Use this in addition to a Soul Release or two, to splat your opponent fast...

3. Soul Exchange: Ever wished you could sacrifice your opponent's monsters instead of your own? Now you can, Scottie, now you can...

2. Garuda the Wind Spirit: Change the positions of your opponent's monsters! Cool effect! Pretty much the same as Aqua Spirit, but I like Garuda better, I mean, would you prefer a Namby Pamby Mermaid to a cool bird creature? I rest my case...

1. The Last Warrior from Another Planet: Oh yes. Not only does this card have 2350 ATK and 2300 DEF, but it also stops your opponent playing any more monsters. Sure, the effect affects you as well, and sure, it's a Fusion, but that's a small price to pay for power, right? Especially if you get a Fusion Gate and this card in your starting hand, huh? Fear it well...

So that's my list. If you want to talk about Yu-gi-oh, or want to ask about the cards in this list, or have any tips for me, e-mail Stuart Williams at christine@williams.fsnet.co.uk. Remember, these cards are all only cards I own, so don't blame me if you lose all your battles and achieve world fame as a championship loser, I'm sorry, It's not my fault. Actually, it is, isn't it...?
