Press the Attack

Today we end our comeback week with a card I am sure everyone is somewhat familiar with - Press the Attack.

Press the Attack first made its introduction in various weenie rush decks (i.e. Skrulls and Gotham Light) as a way to either provide a.) character boost or b.) drawing power.  However, the success of these decks caused everyone to throw Flame Trap or Thing into their decks and so these decks somewhat died out.  Hence, Press the Attack began gathering dust in many card boxes.  Now, with the on-going success of TT and B&B, we are starting to see a re-emergence of this card back onto the tournament scene.

If you have 4 or more exhausted characters on the field, then you may ready target character.  With an effect like that, you can easily see why this card was made for TT, B&B, and various weenie decks.  If you are running TT or B&B, then use this card as a combo with Roy Harper, or just plain use it for some extra BEL since you are not limited as you are with Teen Titans Go.  I can even see this card being played late game in a X-stall deck so that you can ready puppet master and use his effect again.

Bottom line - If you play any type of deck with many smaller characters, or you use a lot of activated powers, you should at least find room for a couple of copies of this card in your deck.  They are well worth it!

Ratings:
Constructed - 3.0/5.0 ....However this card is a 4.0/5.0 in any of the above decks mentioned.

Limited - 2.5/5.0 ....You won't always have 4 exhausted characters on the field in this format, but if you are able to pull this card off then the impact is huge.

Press the Attack – A card that has been seen in many Teen Titans deck over the course of the game. However Press the Attack is decent in a lot of swarm or Army based decks. With a cost of 4 you should have enough characters by turn 4 in a swarm based deck seeing that you are hitting all your multiple drops while your opponent is only casting 1 of his character’s per turn. This card can definitely give you field clearing advantage by being able to attack one more time. Another neat trick is to combo this with Finishing Move so that you can exhaust your last character that has just team attacked and make your opponent ko that character he or she just played.

Constructed: 4/5 – Definitely a card for a team attack based or swarm based strategy deck such as the Titans or Gotham Knights. I have even seen this played in early Sentinel decks. I would rate this card much lower in a curve type deck where you are casting just one character per turn.

Limited: 2/5 – Highly unlikely that you will have this many characters exhausted in this type of format. If you do then this card probably won you the game since an extra attack in Limited is deadly.

Press the Attack

I started using this card for the first time in my old Gk/Sentinel deck, and it worked great. Exhaust my board to draw cards for 7 drop Batman, then use multiple copies of Press the Attack to keep swinging with a huge Bats. Titans decks use this card to get multiple uses out of Arsenal. Curve Sentinels will also get some use out of this card. It's great for multiple attacks, or for getting multiplle activations of a character's power. Cost of 4 is no problem, you need 4 characters on the board to even use it anyway.
It's a very powerful card when used in the right deck, you'll either want 4 copies, or none.

In Limited, being able to keep 4 characters exhausted but not stunned will be tough unless your opponent misses a drop or two. In that case, you'll probably win anyway, but an extra (and unexpected) attack will certianly come in handy. Not a high priority card though, not in this format.
