Essence of Life (F2, defeated ally w/in 6 has 10 HP, save 11); Heal 20; Leap

Today we look at a very interesting character in the young Cade from the first issues of Legacy. His stats are pretty much crap, but since he only costs 20 pts they are in line - sorta. Then again you are not going to be playing him for attacks. You are going to keep him safely hidden or use him as a late game scrub killer.

The power of young Cade lies in his force powers. First off he is a 20 pointer that has renewal. That alone should tell you something. Cade has heal 20. This with renewal alone makes him pretty good for the NR as it is their first faction healer. Leap is okay. Where leap will come into play is when your opponent tries to base him to kill him. Instead of being stuck and unable to afford the AoO, he can leap to safety. As good as both of these are, it is his final force power that will make him a near must for the New Republic. Cade's essence of life is essentially a force based avoid defeat, but instead of making two saves, Cade spends his 2 FPs and the character targeted must make only one save of 11 to stay alive with 10HP. With all of the MotF2 characters the NR has, it should be pretty easy. The other thing to note is that while Cade is spending the 2 FP for EoL, it is the target that has to make the save, meaning the target will still have its FPs to use as rerolls. The only hard part to this is keeping Cade within 6 while out of sight. He may gain evade from wedge, but with only a 16 DEF and 60HP, your opponent is going to target him with a vengeance.

100pts: While i dont think he would be good here, he brings just enough life saving measures that with a major beatstick he might work. It would be a long shot though.

150pts: Here he could do well. He is cheap enough that he could be fit into a lot of slots. With Wedge, it makes damaging the NR very difficult.

200pts: This will be his best format as he will fit easily into any build. With careful positioning, he can make a world of difference.
