Today we review General Obi-Wan Kenobi and let me tell you he is META. His stats are right where they need to be if not above that point. His HP is a good enough 120. His Defense is an astounding 22. His attack is average at 14 and he has the standard damage 20 but that is not the reason to play him at all.

His abilities are standard except one he has Double, which is much needed. He also has mettle which combined with MotF 2 means he could get +8 to the results of his rolls (Not completely sure on that though). Then we get to Soresu style mastery this ability was thought of as much better than it is but it still is good when combined with mettle just ask my VAR  . His force powers are all good with Knight Speed and Force Push the rest just make this guy very annoying.

His CE though is what really makes him META he makes the republic squad based (for lack of a better word) squads very good especially with Bacara and Sevs and it helps Jedi a lot.

His only weakness is besides his high defense he has no way to protect himself from ranged but a lot of Jedi have that issue and with good play, it can be prevented.

100: 4/5 He has the power to go toe-toe with most melee people plus 45 points is enough to bring some good support like sevs that benefit from his CE its just shooters will eat him up

150/200: 5/5 He can sit back and let others do his job. You have enough points to fit him and a big shooter in. You don’t need mas for the CE and he definitely can hold his own in combat. If you take out the other team’s shooters then you have a good chance for success.

General Obi Wan Kenobi

DAM: 20

Today we not only review an Obi i have been longing for, but a figire that has quickly jumped to perhaps the single best figure in the game.  I dont know what it is about the Republic and 55pt commanders, but here is yet another one.  For the cost you get a pretty standard Obi 120HP, an impressive defense, adequate attack and of course 20 DAM>

Kenobi of course has double attack.  This one also has mettle which is incredible, but i will get to that in a minute.  He has a new form of parry that is called Soresu Style mastery.  It essentially IS parry, but it can be over ridden by the new Dooku.  Finally we get a solid Jedi that can block things like force immune characters and vong.  The fact he doesnt have to spend force points means that  he also has a chance to block every attack instead of the one allowed by traditional force block.

For force powers, he starts with 2 but has MotF2.  This is huge because when you add it to soresu and mettle, you noe have a save roll of 3 or better if you miss the first two attempts because mettle does stack with itself.  If a dead Master Jinn is buffing Obi, then he cant miss on his third attempt.  Obi also has knights speed for a quick approach to the enemy, and he has Force push 3 for an added umph.

All that is plenty.  I would play this obi just like this at this cost because he can be that good.  BUT!  there is more.  He has a CE.  Any follower that has any type of ally within 6 gets a +4/+4.  Move over Kota, you just got replaced!  Not really but close.  You can super pump big characters like a Fett or Shaak Ti, Anakin, Yobuck, etc or you can take little characters and really boost them.  Ahsoka can become a 24 DEF and a +15 ATK on a 20pt piece if you run her with Ani (approving errata of course).  Roron Corrob from the target set can become a +23 DEF and +14 ATK - on 24pts!  Clones of course can get a major boost and so on.

His only weakness is Obi can be shot up pretty easily, but he is death to melee characters.  Throw in a couple Gungan shielders and Obi is very destructive.  All this on 55pts is wickedly good.  As i said he is now in the top echelons of the SW Minis.  BTW, you will not need Mas either.  His CE is board wide.  The within 6 is only for the follower and so Mas doesnt work here, which frees up 8pts.

100pts:  You bet he is going to work here.  Bane is going to have a hard time even hitting him, much less kill him as is Vader.  His weakness will be against shooters, but you can bring quite a bit of help at 45 pts to take care of that.  Loda, the most dominant of the 100pt figs right now, will also have a hard time with Obi, as he will have to get past the Soresu.  His cancel will help, but if you have the right support, you can keep Loda very low on FPs.

150pts/200pts: He is going to shine in both of these.  He can not only do lots of harm himself, but can bring in lots of help with very big stats.  CS Aurra would have a base 25 DEF and so on.  This new Obi is not only the epitome of the Obi Wan from epIII, but is incredible from top to bottom because you can run him so many different ways.  He is just that good!
