Cost: 48
HP: 130
DEF: 20
ATK: +13
DAM 20

Force 2; Force Renewal 1

Force Lightning 5: F5, R6, replaces turn, 60 DAM to target and 2 adjacent characters.  Huge and smaller are activated save 16.

Today we get to the center piece of the forth coming game.  This is the dark side choice of the main character, who has yet to really receive a name.  For 48 points you are getting some pretty nice stats.  The 130HP is solid.  The DEF is a bit low, but that generally means that the cost is going to a dangerous offensive ability.  The +13 is okay but not stellar, and the 20 DAM is standard.

He has no real abilities other than the double attack, but then again this set, as well as the game, are based on souped up force powers.  He has the standard F2, FR1.  VA has no defensive powers, but pretty brutal offensive force powers.  Lightning 4 is a massive 50 DAM, automatic.  Also, everything except the AT-AT is activated with a save of a whopping 16, not 11.  For 5 force you get 60 DAM, the activating, but now you get the chain damage from the lighting.

That's it - pretty basic.

100pts: Not sure how playable he is here.  I think he can see play, especially with the lack of thrawn.  He is cheap enough that you can get help in the form of either Thrawn or RS Emperor and have points to spare.  With the Emperor, you will need to do some heavy hitting with your lightning to hope to take down Bane, but the activations have a shot at getting anyone, which could be huge.   A Thrawn build means you would have to run B&B style and stall to get your force built up.  I dont think he would be top, but he could possibly hold his own.

150/200pts:  I am going to lump these together because the only difference is the amount of his support.  He is playable here in many ways.  You can run Thrawn swap.  You can run him as a co-beat stick with any of the Vaders.  He actually makes a good beat stick with trooper squads as well.  Most of his strengths are in his lighting, so taking on Thrawn can really cramp his style, but it can only take one solid initiative to do the damage needed.  He is a good character, but nothing game breaking.

Hello fellow sentients,

Today's piece is one of my favorite from the Force Unleashed set. As far as a back story, this guy has none at this point. The Force Unleashed video game will surely give us some details as to this guy's significance to the Star Wars universe. All I know is this: Vader's Apprentice Unleashed (VAU) is Vader's pupil between Episode 3 and Episode 4. He is Vader's Jedi Hunter sent to destroy the remaining Jedi after Order 66.

For stats we have a mediocre 20 defense, a respectible (if not a little low) attack of +13. 130 Hitpoints to chip away at and the standard 20 damage for lightsaber users. All in all, decent but not great. A pretty good representation of a "mid-range" Jedi as far as stats are concerned.

The fact that VAU has double attack instead of triple is what makes this guy balanced. If there were a triple involved here, this guy would be sick. Apart from this, there are no other Special Abilitites worth mentioning, but you'll play this guy more for his force powers.

VAU's force powers make him a big threat to enemies within 6 spaces. He is locked into melee attack for normal circumstances, but his lightning is beastly and can target anyone within 6.

As far as this guys force powers go, he's pretty much a one trick pony. Lightning. MORE Lightning. I can understand that this character was supposed to be powerful. The only issue I have is that his lightning makes Sidious/Palpatine's lightning look wussy. This is good for the Imperial player, as they can use both VAU/Palpy and some sith witches for a nasty squad of electric death. The fact that the lightning activates what it hits, makes it all the more useful. You will have to build up your force for a couple of rounds. I usually would take that long to get to within range anyway.

This guy is what the empire needs. The one thing that the Imperials are missing is a better balance of Jedi characters. Vader is awsome, don't get me wrong, but he needs some help. VAU fills a gap that was empty until now and should come in handy as a mid-range beatstick. Not only can this guy hold his own for "grunt clearing" he can also pack a punch against larger characters with his force lightning. Try to keep a larger opponent (Mace, Dooku, Yoda...) activated with force lightning, and tee off on them with a big shooter (Boba, Jango, Aurra...) Keeping the opponent activated and direct damage to multiple enemies make this guy some very good support for Vader. Team him up with RS Palpatine and you'll be able to use your lightning even more.

Rating - 4. Nice balance and can cause a huge headache.
Sculpt - 5. I like the way he hold his lightsaber. Looks dangerous.
