For 31 points, Calo Nord's stats are nothing to make him special. 60 HP is too low, 18 DEF is also too low, 9 ATK is... not bad since Bounty Hunter +4 will usually kick in, and 20 DMG is the average. So what makes him so special? I'm guessing his Avoid Defeat and Bounty Hunter +4. He also has Grenades 20 and Double Attack, which is a good way to wrap up this piece.

In 100 or 200, I'd say that there is better out there. If you want someone that has Avoid Defeat, I like Wedge Antilles. However, if you don't like Rebel and you MUST have someone with Avoid Defeat in your squad, you could consider him. He's just not too game-breaking, and probably won't be seen in many competitive squads.

I never really liked him in the games, but the translation to a mini i think is pretty good. For 31 points you get a VERY weak 60 HP, a decent defense, a good attack and average damage. His abilities are okay, but nothing overpowering. The BH+4 is good as he gets a +13 against uniques, and double attack makes him pretty good if you can park him behind something to keep him safe. The grenades 20 can be really nice against swarms, but i seem to have noticed a trend. The more characters you pack together, the more likely it is that every character will make their saves. It is sweet to get a grenade off on 4-5 guys, but it breaks your spirit to watch your opponent make every save!

Anyway, the saving grace, and oddly very appropriate to his game character, is avoid defeat. While it is hard to pull off with any consistency even with force points, which he lacks, it is still a nice ability. I she worth 31 points? Well, IG-88 costs 6 more points, has +20HP, +1 DEF, +2 ATK, same damage, both have double, and does not have AD or grenades. One more thing he has over IG is that he is a living follower, so he can gain CEs. I would call that about on par.

100pts: He needs a way to do 30 DAM here to be any good. He is just too fragile.

200pts: He will not see much play here outside of fun squads. If you want to run him, try using him with CS Yoda. Or if you can run him with the rebels, Ackbar makes him a +13/+17 which is really good. He is a thinking man's piece because you really have to watch him with his 60HP. He is a good piece with a solid double attack, but that's about it.

Calo Nord was supposed to be the Boba Fett of his day, 4000 years before Boba was a twinkling in his father’s genetic material. Compared to either version of either Fett, however, Calo falls rather short. He shouldn’t feel too badly, though; almost everyone falls short of the illustrious Fett family.
For 31 points, he has decent damage output, with Bounty Hunter +4 helping to compensate for his mediocre Attack value. He also has a respectable Grenades 20, which is helpful as a Bodyguard deterrent (expect Bodyguard to be big in the near future, as a certain piece in the new set has popularized the Disintegrate ability, and Bodyguard is the only real defense to it).
The problem with Calo is his survivability. With only 60 hit points and a lowish Defense of 18, he’ll only take two or three shots from your opponent’s main damage dealers. He does have the Avoid Defeat ability, which generally means that he will take a third or fourth hit to kill about 25% of the time. This is cute, a neat nod to how the character worked in Knights of the Old Republic, but nothing to plan for.
So is he worth 31 points? Maybe, but you should definitely be planning to compensate for his weaknesses. Consider teaming him up with Rodian Black Sun Vigo and keeping him in the back, well away from legal targets. For an interesting build, try him with the original Yoda, who will let him reroll his Avoid Defeat saves, bringing that 25% to a whopping 56% or so (assuming I’ve done that math right; probability class was a long time ago for me).
The bottom line is that Calo Nord isn’t the best choice around, but he’s certainly not the worst. As a Fringe piece, there are lots of choices for his squadmates, and there just might be some great combo out there that I haven’t thought of. Happy hunting.

Calo Nord
Hit Points: 60
Defense: 18
Attack: +9
Damage: 20
Cost: 31

Special Abilities:
Avoid Defeat: Whenever this character would be defeated, make 2 saves, each needing 11. If both succeed, this character has 10 Hit Points instead of being defeated.
Bounty Hunter +4
Double Attack
Grenades 20
Unique

The Good: Overall, shorty has standard stats you'd expect for a decent bounty hunter. Avoid defeat has the potential of prolonging his longevity on the battlefield.
The Bad: Avoid Defeat is probably responsible for short's cost of 31 and is not reliable.
The Ugly: I loved the character in KOTOR, but I always felt that Avoid Defeat was more of a commander effect ... just not worth tagging it onto an individual. Evade or Blaster Barrage (without moving) would have fit Calo Nord's profile much better.

Rating:
100: 1/5 ... too expensive in this format
150+: 2.5/5 ... you could probably use him here, but the low probability that Avoid Defeat is going to keep this character alive still is costly and unreliable.

Hitpoints: 60
Defense: 18
Attack: +9
Damage: 20
Faction: Fringe

Abilities: Avoid Defeat, Bounty Hunter +4, Double Attack, Grenades 20, Unique

Hmmm... it appears we have a new Bounty Hunter to review today, instead of a remake like every other Bounty Hunter in this set (with the exception of Zuckuss). Calo Nord, in my opinion, is like most of the unique jedi in Clone Strike. Not bad pieces by any stretch of the imagination, but far too mediocre to see much play at all.

His point cost is pretty average. If I'm spending 31 points on a unit, I'd like him to be able to deal out decent ammounts of damage and probally stay in the battle for a pretty long period of time. Calo Nord is about average at both of these requirements. 60 hitpoints isn't great, but its the only stat that is a little below average (then again, not many pieces in Bounty Hunters has high hitpoints). 18 defense is a pretty solid defense, and +9 attack with 20 damage is pretty much the norm. As you can see, his stats are pretty much the average 31 point stats, with the exception of Hitpoints.

So, we take a look at his abilities to see if they can bring any advantages to the table. He's a Bounty Hunter and a Double Attack, which is nice, changing him to a +13 Unique thwacker, and he also has Grenades 20. While Grenades isn't the most useful ability ever, it can deal out some major damage to a high-activation squad with lots of low-hitpoint troopers. What seperates himself from other pieces like him is Avoid Defeat. Basically, if he was to die, he has a 25% chance not to, and instead have 10 hitpoints left.
While this certinaly helps considering his low 60 hitpoints, other pieces in this set get Evade, a far supierer ability. While Avoid Defeat certinally isn't bad to have, I would rather have 20 more hitpoints than it... or Evade.

All in all, it seems like quite an average piece and will be played merely because people like Calo Nord (then again, this isn't likely as many people aren't aware of his existance unless they played KotOR) then because he's actually a playable piece. If you like Calo Nord, try him out. He's not bad. But don't expect him to be the legendary piece like a simularly costed certian Clone Strike Lightsaber-weilding Acurrate Shotter is. (Oh, alright. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look up Aurra Sing.)

100 points: 2/5 Nah, don't bother here. While he is a bounty hunter, he still won't last long against Vader... or even Bane, for that matter.

200 points: 2.5/5 Preference. It won't really hurt you to try him, but there really is no point to try him either. Pick up someone with Evade instead.

Sculpt: 2.5/5 I have nothing against this sculpt.
