“Questions, questions, too many questions.”

LOL, Okay for those that do not know, that is a quote from Augra from the Dark Crystal, a great Jim Henson movie from the early 80s.  I have always loved the way she says this, so I chose it for the title.  That and I didn’t know what else to call this one. ;)  Today’s article is a combination of questions from Jonah and Daniel:

1. If I am playing han solo in stromtrooper armor in the same squad as boba fett bounty hunter would Fett be able to keep his mobile attack if he moves more than 6 squares.  i know that Han’s commander effect says replaces turn, but mobile attack doesn’t say any thing about on that character’s turn.

No.  Mobile attack is for normal movements during your regular turn.  Once you declare something like charging assault, you have replaced your turn with that ability.  You also have the problem of charging assault saying that your attack has to come at the end of your movement.  It cannot be in the middle like mobile attack would be.  All Fett can do is move up to 12 and twin attack.

2. i am kind of confused about the talz spy and his sabotage move.  if you could just explain more what it is used for.

It is not actually a bad ability.  The problem you run into is how often do you see people really play mounted weapon characters?  What Sabotage does is it replaces your attacks and then you essentially handcuff your opponent’s piece from being able to move to its full extent.  Let’s take a look at the Viper, since that is the one piece that you might see more frequently.  The first problem is that you have to get the Talz up to the Viper, but let’s assume you did that.  If you use sabotage on the Viper, what that does is for the rest of the game, the viper can only move 6 squares.  It can no longer move 12 squares and not attack.  It is stuck to whatever the base speed of the piece is.  As hard as it is for huges to move around, that can really slow them down a lot!   The hard part is not only pulling it off, but also doing it early enough where that will actually be beneficial.

3. If I
am using a character like sly more with dominate on a character with regeneration would they gain 10 hp after being dominated.  also if it is on a character with a force rating would i be able to use there force points, where they are mine or not.  also if they have force renewal would they gain a force point.

When dominating a character, it doesn’t matter if it is yours or your opponent’s.  Assuming you successfully dominate someone, you are giving them a free turn.  During that turn, they are allowed to do anything that would normally happen on a turn except move.  Regeneration happens during a character’s turn, so yes regeneration would work.  When you dominate a character from your opponent’s squad, that character is yours for that turn. You apply all benefits and CEs that would benefit a character in your squad.  A character with force points can use force points during their turn just like any other turn.  If you want to waste your opponent’s force, you can spend a force point to move two extra squares even though you are not allowed to move.  All it would do is essentially waste a force point.  Things like force renewal are totally different.  You gain a force point when you activate.  The dominated character is not activating even though it is getting a turn, so you would not gain a force point through domination.

4. If I use luke champion of the force in my squad, can i use obi-won, jedi spirit and give luke an additional force renewal 1.

Force renewal is an ability.  Having two cases of force renewal would violate stacking rules, and you would be arrested and sentenced to play forever with nothing but Nikto soldiers.  No, it does not stack.;)  You would gain mettle through it though.

5. If I am playing bariss offee and she is the only character left on my team, am i able to heal myself.

Yes, all you need to heal someone is touch, and you touch yourself (don’t go there people!), so characters with Heal can use it on themselves.  The lone exceptions are the droids that heal only because heal only works on living characters and not droids.

6. If I use lightsaber throw on a character with evade, would they be able to evade it.  Along with that would you be able to evade a character with melee reach 2 if they are not adjacent.
Yes, a character with evade or deflect could use those abilities on lightsaber throw.  If you read the glossary definition in the new rulebook it addresses this.  It is a good idea to study the glossary definitions.  There are things there that can expand and change the card definitions, betrayal being a prime example.  MR2 is its own set of worms.  According to the new definition of MR2, when the MR2 character is attacking, all characters within two squares are now adjacent to the attacker for all purposes and interactions.  Evade and Molecular shielding no longer work against MR2, but things like self-destruct, block and riposte do work now.  There is also no cover now when attacking a character two squares away, sitting on cover.

7. Could you explain the new disruptive rule?

The way disruptive works is if you have a character within 6 of Talon, R2PO, Nym or Juno, that character does not benefit from commander effects when checking.  The reason I say when checking is because you check for the CE when it is to be used.  A character with charging assault from Han, Stormtrooper only need check when starting their turn.  They can run into or through a disruptive field and not be affected.  A character trying to benefit from Lando, HoT’s mobile attack cannot use it if they move into a disruptive field, attack and then try to move out as it checks for the CE after the attack and the character would be disrupted.  Now, if you can get the Commander itself into the disruptive field, then you cancel the CE board wide until the Commander can get out of the field.

8. Can you explain what a character being able to use one force point a turn means?  All my friends say that it means that you can spend one point on your turn and one on your opponent's, but I'm not sure if that is correct.  Could you explain it?

Your friends are correct.  There are three definitions of time in SWM, a turn, a phase, and a round.  A turn is a single character’s activation (not counting things like dominate).  A phase is the number of turns allowed by the team in play.  I phrase it such because of characters like San Hill, Ozzel, and Tarkin.  Normally a phase is two characters (or two turns).  Under the afore mentioned, a phase would be 1 character for the first two and 1,2 or 3 for Tarkin.  A round is the activations of all characters by all people playing in the game.  Characters can spend force points once per turn (normally).  This means every time a character activates, the force user can spend FP again.  When Boba activates, Obi can deflect his shot once, not twice regardless of whether its double attack or twin attack.  When Lando activates and shoots Obi, Obi can now deflect Lando’s attack, as it is a new turn.

I hope this helps answer your questions.  If I missed something send me an email and I will clarify further.  I will try to churn a couple more out over the next few weeks.  Time and sleep have become a premium this semester, but I am almost caught up again.  If anyone has any questions or topics you would like me to cover, drop me a line at sithdragon13@yahoo.com.  I will get to ALL emails, so if you have sent something be patient.
