In order
to make reviews longer, I give you this friendly
reminder about Shaman King: Master of Spirits 2.
I still haven't played it yet, but several
online videogame review sites have. To surprise
us all, they give the game actually good
reviews. We're talking an "8 out of 10" good
reviews. For an anime/manga spin-off game that
is excellent news. So before you run off to play
the game, let's take a mid-week review for
"Disheartening Blow."
Lee Pai-long is slamming the living dead out of
Sha-mon with his "Foegen Kick" in today's card
art. This uncommon card has a trait restriction
of Guardian. Card cost is a bit high with 1
green and 1 red furyoku. I sound like a broken
record here, but red furyoku is best spent on
strikes. The card stats support the cost with a
7 intercept and a 4 force. The force is just
under the 'golden 5' but a 7 intercept is very
high and should counterattack most strikes at a
reasonable cost. Before looking at the effect,
it easily has a 3.5/5 rating right now. But the
effect only sweetens the deal.
"Disheartening Blow's" effect states; "Pitch -->
Your opponent loses a yellow furyoku." So at a
cost of a zone you can burn away a powerful
yellow furyoku. That's fairly balanced cost.
Great addition for a furyoku control deck. But
as the strike is very playable I don't see why
you would want to Pitch it when you could
counter attack. Some decks could run multiples
of this card, with planning to Pitch it a few
times in order to dodge the red furyoku cost.
Adds strength to decks and furyoku control all
in one card. Sounds like a winner to me. Because
of it's playability you are more likely to run
into in Tournaments.
