Magnezone.

Japanese name: ジバコイル (Jibacoil).

Type: Electric / Steel.

Ability:

Magnet pull: Steel –type Pokémon cannot switch.

Sturdy: This Pokémon is immune by OHKO moves.

Height: 3’11’’.

Weight: 396.8 lbs.

Base stats:

            HP: 70

            Attack: 70

            Defense: 115

            Special attack: 130

            Special defense: 90

            Speed: 60

Pokédex Data:

It evolved from exposure to a special magnetic field. Three units generate magnetism.

Well I’m still looking for TRU Darkrai. If you are reading these and feel like helping me out feel free to e-mail me. I’ll trade u well for it. Same goes for the Gamestop Deoxys. Thanks =)

Pretty good special attack and decent defense make Magnezone an interesting tankish sweeper. It is also a natural counter to Skarmory and might as well be an interesting option if you are looking for an electric-type for your team.

The movesets for today are…

Trap.
Magnezone@Leftovers.
Nature: Mild (+ Special attack, - Defense), Rash (+ Special attack, - Special defense).
EV’s: 252 Special attack / 129 Attack / 129 Speed.
- Thunderbolt
- HP ice
- Substitute
- Explosion / Magnet rise

Use magnet pull with this… Perfect counter for Skarmory, I’d use explosion over magnet rise, but the former lets you survive Swampert, so it’s an excellent choice as well.

Special sweeper.
Magnezone@Salac Berry / Life orb / Leftovers
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
EV’s: 252 Special attack / 252 Speed / 6 Defense.
- HP ice
- Thunderbolt
- Flash cannon
- Endure / Magnet rise

Almost the same set but a different natures and items. Use Salac berry if you are using endure, if not then choose between leftovers or life orb. You might also want to try choice scarf/specs using explosion as your last attack.

There are other decent strategies as the rest talker or thunder dancer. But I think the trap set is going to be your surprise card against Skarmory users (there are a lot of them out there by the way).

Pros.

Good not only against Skarmory but you can also take down Blisseys if you are patient enough and you are good timing your explosion attack. It has great special attack for an electric type and defenses capable of taking even an earthquake from not so strong Pokémon.

Counters.

If you trap the trapper then you shall succeed; Dugtrio with arena trap will certainly KO Magnezone if you use Earthquake before it uses magnet rise. Electivire can Lanturn can handle its electric attacks and if you use Swampert wisely you might take it down before it uses HP.

Bottom line.

We close another summer week. With the announcement of Pokémon platinum and the sky form of Shaymin we know we will have Pokémon for a very long time. I also want to say that Pokémon ranch is a very good giant box (1000 Pokémon max.) for you serious trainers out there who find yourselves out of space (happens to me very often).

Rating:

3.3/5

Hope you enjoyed.

Reeve.
