Ludicolo.

# 272.

Type: Water / Grass.

Ability: Swift swim / Rain dish.

Locations: Evolve Lombre (Diamond / Pearl).

Base stats:

            HP: 80

            Attack: 70

            Defense: 70

            Special attack: 90

            Special defense: 100

            Speed: 70

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Ludicolo, the Carefree Pokémon.

It’s Cinco de Mayo as I’m writing this so I decided this is the closest thing to a Mariachi right? But Ludicolo is more than that. Its stats aren’t that awesome, but this is one classic and effective annoyer. And I’ve seen a couple special and physical sweepers. So grab your Tortilla chips and guacamole for this review…

Both abilities are good. Swift swim doubles your speed when rainy and rain dish recovers some health under heavy rain. Most trainers prefer rain dish…

So, the move combinations for today are…

Ludicolo.

Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).

Equip: Petaya berry.

EV´s: 129 Special attack, 129 Speed, 252 HP.

- Hydro pump / Surf

- Leech seed / Giga drain

- Ice beam

- Rain dance

Use swift swim here. Boost your speed, then use leech seed and sweep as much as you can. Not the best special sweeper, but decent for casual battling.

Ludicolo.

Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).

Equip: Leftovers / Damp rock.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 129 Speed, 252 HP.

- Waterfall

- Leech seed / Rain dance

- Swords dance

- Drain punch / Zen headbutt / Brick break

A pretty interesting physical sweeper with swords dance. You really need swift swim for this one as well. Speed is vital for this set.

Ludicolo.

Nature: Bold (+ Defense, - Attack).

Equip: Leftovers.

EV´s: 252 Special defense, 6 Defense, 252 HP.

- Fake out / Grass knot / Toxic / Giga drain

- Leech seed

- Protect

- Rain dance

The annoyer set is your best option for Ludicolo. I got totally annihilated once thanks to this thing. So you use rain dance having rain dish. Then leech seed and protect. Choose the first move according to your needs and situation.

When should I use this Pokémon?

This is one nice option if you don’t want to use Blissey anymore. Leech seed and rain conditions make Ludicolo a pretty good annoyer. You might want to try the first two sets as well for a not so competitive environment.

What should I use against this Pokémon?

Poison and Flying types are dangerous. Poison / Water as Tentacruel or Poison / Grass as Venusaur or Roserade are strong against Ludicolo’s strategies and have effective moves against it. So be careful. Inflict status conditions and you will be safe as well.

Bottom line:

This week is going to be a double dose of Pokémon reviews, so stay tuned. Hope you had a nice Cinco de Mayo fiesta. See you later this week. I’ll be answering a couple e-mails I have from you; Thanks for being so patient.

Rating:

3.2/5

Hope you enjoyed.

Reeve.
