Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re
reviewing Altaria, the humming Pokémon.
Altaria’s stats are not the best as we can see, but it is decent
enough for a couple sets. Its special defense is its best stat
so if you are going for a sweeper you need to boost your stats a
little bit; its move pool is also decent enough.
Natural cure is perfect for a defensive /switching Pokémon, you
have your status affection healed when you withdraw Altaria.
So, the move combinations for today are…
Altaria.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack), Timid (+Speed, -
Attack).
Equip: Quick claw.
EV´s: 252 Defense, 129 Special attack, 129 Speed.
- Toxic
- Protect
- Haze
- Dragon pulse
You will use this set when facing boosted Pokémon. Use Haze,
toxic and protect to raise your chances of surviving by forcing
a switch. Dragon pulse is used for extra damage.
Altaria.
Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).
Equip: Yache berry.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Attack, 129 Speed.
- Dragon dance
- Dragon claw
- Aerial ace
- Sing / Roost
Put your foe to sleep and then boost your stats. Or sweep until
you need some HP and use roost, both strategies are effective if
you try to extend your life as much as you can.
When should I use this Pokémon?
There are other strategies as sunnybeamer Altaria, but I’d say
these are probably the most useful sets if you are going
competitive.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
You want to use strong ice / rock attacks, but not special
attacks as its special defense probably won’t let you OHKO it.
So a strong Rhyperior with Rock slide and/or Avalanche will be
great against Altaria. Just remember it’s not a very dangerous
Pokémon until it has dragon danced a couple times so feel free
to attack at will.
