Machamp.

# 068.

Type: Fighting.

Ability: Guts / No armor.

Locations: Evolve Machoke.

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Machoke, the superpower Pokémon.

Machoke used to be one of the very best fighting types. Today we have Heracross and Breloom so you could say Machamp is no longer the big mean Pokémon it used to be. It has high attack and decent defenses, but its speed isn’t even close to good. So your best shot is to use Machamp with baton pass.

Guts is an amazing ability. Give more power to the Pokémon and its almost insane.

Let’s move on to the move combinations I’ll start for combinations for the GBA and then I’ll be introducing move combinations for the new DP games…

GBA.

Machamp.

Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).

Equip: Leftovers.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 129 Defense, 129 Special defense.

- Cross chop

- Rock slide

- Earthquake

- Bulk up

The physical sweeper is almost insane. Watch the speed as I said earlier. It won’t be as fast as a Skarmory or Blissey. So switch when needed.

DP.

First of all, remember the physical / special attack consideration has changed for DP, so some of our reviews have to change as well to fit the new criteria.

Machamp.

Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).

Equip: Leftovers.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 129 Defense, 129 Special defense.

- Cross chop

- Stone edge

- Earthquake

- Bulk up

This is almost the same guy. But I have seen some Machamps online using Rest and Sleep talk; I suppose it’d be a good set too.

When should I use this Pokémon?

This is the perfect anti Bilssey. It can take out some annoying Clefables, Rampardos or Puruglies.

What should I use against this Pokémon?

Blissey. A fast Alakazam might be good as well. Staraptor will take it out without a doubt.

Bottom line:

Last week I said there are some Pokémon that are still great and have been great for 8 years or so. Machamp is nothing to be excited, it is good, but I can’t really compare it with Lucario or Breloom.

Remember, If you have DP versions and want my number please Send me an e-mail with yours to reeve.ryu@gmail.com As soon as I can import my GBA Pokémon to Diamond, I’ll be trading some pretty good Pokémon; legendaries, starters, Feebas, and stuff like that. Thanks and see you on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Rating:

3/5

Hope you enjoyed.

Today we are reviewing the superpower Pokémon, Machamp.

Machamp is one of the most underused fighting Pokemon in the game. People don’t use Machamp due to its speed and weaknesses. With the release of Diamond and Pearl, Machamp did become better.

With that said, here are some battle strategies for Machamp.

Machamp
Nature: Adamant (+attack, -special attack)
EV’s: 252 speed, 252 attack, 6 hp
Ability: Guts
Equip: Flame Orb
-Vital Throw (Lvl 25)
-Earthquake (TM 26)
-Rock Slide (TM 80)
-Poison Jab (TM 84)

At the start of the battle, the Flame Orb with burn Machamp. With the burn, guts will activate, thus multiplying Machamp’s attacks by 1.5.

Machamp
Nature: Adamant (+attack, -special attack)
EV’s: 252 attack, 252 speed, 6 hp
Ability: No Guard
Equip: Salac Berry
-Stone Edge (TM 71)
-Cross Chop (Lvl 40)
-Giga Imact (TM 68)
-Fire Punch (Egg)

Basic sweeper. No Guard gives Machamp’s attacks 100% accuracy.

Bottom Line: Machamp has elevated itself into the top 5 fighting types in the game.

Rating: 3.8/5
