Mamoswine.

# 473.

Type: Ice / Ground.

Ability: Oblivious / Snow cloak.

Locations: Evolve Piloswine. (Diamond, Pearl).

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Mamoswine, the Twin tusk Pokémon.

Mamoswine is a pretty interesting Pokémon, not very used because of its type combination I think, but it has potential, specially because its big attack and HP stats, it can be used as you standard physical sweeper, and it’s a pretty good curser.

As I said on our last review, snow cloak is great. It raises evasion during hailstorm and that’s where you take advantage of specific situations. If you are using a hail team or just use hail at any point your opponent will either take the risk of failing or switching. Oblivious is not that good, preventing attraction is not that popular these days.

Let’s move on to the move combinations, let’s see what’s up with this guy…

Mamoswine.

Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).

Equip: Leftovers.

EV´s: 252 HP, 252 Attack, 6 Defense.

- Curse

- Earthquake

- Avalanche

- Hail

Meant to be used if you have snow cloak because of Hail. If you are using the oblivious ability then switch hail for rest and leftovers for chesto berry. It is a simple curser. Use hail and Curse, then sweep.

Mamoswine.

Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).

Equip: Choice band.

EV´s: 252 HP, 252 Attack, 6 Defense.

- Double edge

- Earthquake

- Avalanche

- Stone edge

This choice bander is a very common hit and runner, it is simple and powerful, but slow, so keep that in mind, if you can baton pass some speed that’s be great, and using hail and snow cloak can give you a couple extra turns for sweeping.

When should I use this Pokémon?

It is always a nice surprise having an uncommon Pokémon battling against you, it isn’t a tourney Pokémon, but it can be fun to use this season in Battle Revolution maybe.

What should I use against this Pokémon?

Skarmory could be a problem; fast water special sweepers as Starmie are deadly for Mamoswine as well. Overall you can take it down hitting hard and fast, as it doesn’t have a very good special defense.

Bottom line:

Stay tuned for next week’s review a Chistmas Special for you and I hope you will have a good time reading it before the big guy in red comes…

Rating:

2.5/5
