Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the
Week. Today we’re reviewing Regice, iceberg Pokémon.
Regice is probably one of the best tanks out
there. Yeah there are now physical fire sweepers but still, it
is fairly good. I’d say the best Regi out there. Ice types are
not that reliable but Regice has proven for years that there are
some decent ice types out there, with gargantuan special
defense; this one is tough to beat if you are not familiar with
its strategy.
Clear body is a great ability for a legend of you
like playing singles. For doubles it is useful too, but if they
can’t poison your Regice, they’ll poison your other Pokémon, so
you are forced to switch or suffer, singles are better for this
one.
Let’s move on to the move combinations, let’s see
what’s up with this guy…
Regice.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Cold rock.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 129 Defense, 129 HP.
- Ice beam
- Thunderbolt
- Hail
- Toxic
Hail and toxic for extra damage, then just sweep.
It’s a standard set but also very effective. Don’t worry if you
are facing a fire special sweeper, Regice has enough special
defense to stand 2 or more hits.
Regice.
Nature: Calm (+ Special defense, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Defense, 129 Special defense.

- Amnesia
- Hail
- Thunderwave

is the special attack variation, but you can also use…
Regice.
Nature: Sassy (+ Special defense, - Speed).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Defense, 129 Special defense.
- Explosion
- Amnesia
- Thunderwave
- Curse
Kamikaze Regice is awesome but very predictable,
so try to use it as a closing Pokémon, if you use it too soon
you will force a switch, maybe for a tanks, and you don’t want
that, so be careful.
When should I use this Pokémon?
Most formats let you use one or two legends, so
maybe you don’t want to use one of those slots with Regice
(specially with Kamikaze), still, you can use it if you are
comfortable with it over Mewtwo or Rayquaza.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
If you want to beat Regice fast and easy, then
use Blaziken or Infernape. Blaze kick might not be a OHKO but it
will leave Regice in red HP, dragon dance Tyranitar is awesome
against it too… Try to use a Pokémon with protect for the
explosion Regice.
Bottom line:
Good, not excellent, but good overall…
