Reeve Lapras
# 131.
Type: Water / Ice.
Ability: Water absorb / Shell armor.
Locations: Icefall cave (FireRed / LeafGreen), Snag from Cipher Admin Eldes (XD).

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Lapras, the transport Pokémon

Lapras is a very cool Pokémon, it has a very good amount of HP and all of its stats are decent, all of them but speed. Is has a decent move pool as well, which lets us build many move sets that are actually useable on today’s tournament environment.

Both abilities are very good. Water absorb is a counter for other water sweepers and shell armor is effective against those horn drill / fissure strategies.

Lapras is useable as a special or even a psychical Pokémon, I’ll list both move combinations as well as a new one brought to us by Pokémon XD.

Lapras.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 HP, 6 Defense.
- Ice beam
- Thunderbolt
- Surf
- Rest

You might want to take out one of the attacks and use confuse ray, for some extra turns to deal damage. Simple and effective, the special sweeper is all about power and rest when necessary.

Lapras.
Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 HP, 6 Defense.
- Dragon dance
- HP ghost
- Return
- Hydro pump

Dragon dance for another cool move combination. So, keep dancing until you think it’s enough then sweep. You might want to try another HP like Rock. Hydro pump is there for surprises.

Lapras.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 HP, 6 Defense.
- Ice beam
- Heal bell
- Thunderbolt
- Rest

What do you think? Heal bell is a nice addition for this guy. Thanks XD

When should I use this Pokémon?
Lapras is not the best Pokémon ever, but still can surprise your opponent. Use it wisely and it will take out at least two Pokémon by itself.

What should I use against this Pokémon?
Blissey or Suicune for the special sweeper, Lapras is still vulnerable to repetitive attacks and Rest could be death. So keep that in mind.

Bottom line:
Lapras is a very good Pokémon. Pick one and try it, you’ll love it.

Rating:
4/5

Hope you enjoyed.
Reeve.
