Let me just say what everyone is thinking first of all: THIS IS A POKEMON THAT REPRESENTS WATER WELL, YET IS IMMUNE TO ELECTRIC! HOLY TRIPE! *Ahem* Okay, now let's begin the actual review.

Swampert, you are a riddle.

On one hand...

You've got a very interesting strategy. This Pokemon packs the ability Torrent, making him a rather powerful water fighting in the end. Also, he has a plethora of counter moves. Endeavor, Bide, and Protect, all are precautions for taking hits. This guy wants to be punished! If you go into the fight, planning to take a beating, this guy can most certainly do quite a bit.

On the other hand...

Planning on taking a beating is never a good idea in a game. Especially Pokemon. Especially with a Pokemon with a hit gauge only slightly above average. Especially with a Pokemon with a double weakness as common as grass. This Pokemon is very easily killed, but is able to deal with this by equipping Surf and Earthquake. Now, here is the main problem.

What attacks do you equip Swampert with?

Well, to take advantage of the his Torrent, you would have to plan on him having a hit guage that is being beaten. So let's fill slot one with Endeaver. He is going to need to take advantage of his Water, so let's snap Surf in there. To make him decently Ground, add on a good ol' fashioned Earthquake. And, for that Normal-Type style, let's add Take Down (Hey, he learns it naturally and it can contribute tohis lowered hit gauge).

Endeavor
Take Down
Surf
Earthquake

When I started out writing this review, I fully intended to hate this Pokemon. I'm not going to lie, I was bias. The more I researched this guy, though, the more I realized how well one can play him. he can ever tack on a decent Rest and/or Bide in order to be able to accentuate his counter attack method. He can be a lot of fun, and has respectable fighting ability besides. Combine this with his respectable water use that is unafraid of electricity, and you have a pokemon that, while not the "ultimate" Pokemon, has a difficult strategy that you can't help but respect when used properly.

Though I would choose Blaziken over him any day of the week, I can't help but give this guy:

3.25/5.00

God Bless,

Marcian

P.S. Venusaur sucks.

swampert is a good pokemon with both attack strengths about average, however its attack is better than its special

My moveset ice beamb- for those grass types who's stronger against swampy earthquake body slam( for those on emerald) takedown surf as you can see its sort of a mixed sweeper.

rating R/S:2
E:3.5
FR/LG:3.5
