New stuff at Target
January 2, 2007

It. Is. Time.

Gather up your Target gift cards.

They are here.

I don't need to tell you. You've seen the scans.

JAKKS. Get to Target. Now! :)

Yep, the Target closest to me at lunch had the new toys--electronic Pokedex ($19.99); 3-figure packs (with bonus mystery item--sorry, I didn't buy one, dunno whatzit!--$9.99); single figure packs (with matching marble--$3.99); mini plush (my Target only had Pikachu's--but, the bins were 1/2 empty...--$5.99); deluxe figures (with light/sound--didn't catch the price, sorry!)... More to come, I'm sure. Since I hovered over the shelves all weekend at several Targets in my area and these weren't around until about today, I'll take a wild stab of a guess and say that the Hasbro contract probably ended on the 31st and the Jakks contract started on the 1st; I doubt, competition-wise, they would've let the contracts overlap. This means whatever Hasbro Poke-stuff was left is likely on the clearance shelf (not much, from what I saw after Xmas). The items I saw were nicely packaged; some of the figures require minor assembly (Pika's tail, Latios' wing, etc.). The "small" figures are larger than the "small" Hasbro figures of the original Pokemon line several years back and not to scale amongst the group. However, they look quite charming and hopefully are study enough to withstand play battle; durability remains to be seen. Take a look, decide for yourself. At the very least, these items are different than what Hasbro offered, design-wise, so, there is a fresh feel. Also, the figures are more "current" than the prior waves in the sense that whenever a new movie use to come out, it seemed like 4-ever ;) before matching figures followed. Lucario was on the shelf and that movie was just recently released--cool--and on the toy dealer site, I noticed Diamond/Pearl figures were in the works. It's nice to have accompanying toys closer in timeframe to the games, movies, etc. Thank you to Target for stocking the line; I wrote them a note a few weeks ago, I sure hope they realize we fans appreciate the effort to carry Pokemon toys!

Happy Pika New Toy Year!!! PIKA PI!!!!!!!!!!
