Top 5 Poke Powers in the Modified Format
January 5, 2007

Here’s a quick look at the best, and most popular poke-powers in the current format.

#5.) Chimecho d (Holon Phantoms) Delta Support

This little guy here takes away the only draw back in the Holon engine, the discard.

You simply discard the energy then grab it right back, and because it goes to your hand, you can still use it after the fact. You can mentor for him, and he is a delta type so Holon Castform a\will be able to draw an additional card.

#4.) Fearow (Crystal Guardians) Delta Sign

The ability to grab any delta pokemon with no restrictions is way to valuable to be over looked in a format dominated by delta species. And because it is only a stage 1, he can be fit into any deck effortlessly.

#3.) Banette EX (Legend Maker) Shady Move

Banny’s Shady move only ranks this high because it can be abused so easily with his only attack, which helps pile damage quickly. With the ability to move the damage so early in the game, it often causes opponents to forfeit the early 10 damage from a basic, because it will only be moved and might cause an easy KO.

#2.) Dragonite d (Delta Species) Delta Charge

This is the cornerstone card and power in the most dominating deck in the game right now. Allowing you to recycle L energy to any benched, it’s cumulative so the more draggy's in play the more energy you’ll get back. It allows for some amazing combos when you throw a castform on a benched Lugia EX, or a benched latios*.

#1.) Flygon d (Holon Phantoms) Delta Supply

The ONLY reason, that this power is better than draggy’s is because it allows you to attach any type of basic energy, or d rainbow, to any delta pokemon, anywhere in play. And because delta types dominate the format, you’ll most likely be attaching to a delta species anyway.

A very hard list to compile, some very good powers were left out. Here is an Honorable Mention

*Alteria d EX (Dragon Frontiers) Extra Boost- Stage 2 EXs are always overpriced, this makes them affordable.

*Flareon EX (Delta Species) Evolutionary Flame-Because it works from the bench, and gets around Holons WP, or attack effects, it can be combined very well.

*Sceptile d EX (Crystal Guardians) Extra Liquid- He Gives any EX based decks a horrible match up. especially if you are behind.

*Metagross d (Delta Species) Delta Control- A mini Wishing Star with no drawbacks, what’s not to love.

*Gardevoir EX (Dragon Frontiers) Imprison-Shut down all powers and bodies the entire game…. nuff said.

P.S. Jeff Reynolds is the best T.O. EVER!
