Here we have a classic example of what happens when WizKids took a successful design from another navy, and made an American version of it.
In this case, the original is the superb French gold runner, Le Bon Marin (RV 059).

The Frenchman is certainly one of the top five gold ships in the game, with speed, cargo, ability, and price all very much in her favor. Her American cousin is identical in every way, except for the speed part.
They slowed her down, and gave nothing in return! What's left is an average ship meant for gold and nothing else, but too slow to get the job done. Sure, you can add a Helmsman, but now you're losing both a cargo space and the low price.

Still, as USA gold ships go, the USS Annapolis isn't a bad one. We American admirals need all the gold-running capacity we can get, and while this one is no Le Bon Marin, she's no Maman Brigitte, either. But she could have been so much better...

Goldship rating: 3.2 / 5
Gun Ship rating: 1.4 / 5
Boarding rating: 1.3 / 5
Value for points: 3.1 / 5
