Cadet-Captain Mike

Name: Noble Swan (Jade Rebellion)
Card: SCS #021 (Rare)
Points: 6
Masts: 1
Cargo: 2
Moves: S+L
Guns : 2S
Hit %: 67 (S), 0 (L)
Ability: Turtle Ship. Ramming cannot eliminate this ship's masts.

This little ship has been one of my favorites ever since the Jade Rebellion appeared. According to the fluff text, they're gone now, but they still sail the seas of my gaming group, and the Noble Swan still cuts a mean path.

She's got the speed and the low price to make a good little gold ship.
Her turtle panels protect her from gunfire, and her ability cures the one-masted ship's biggest weakness, namely, vulnerability to ramming.
You can load her up with Captain and Musketeer and turn her into a fine support fighter, but gold is her strongest point. Yes, her cargo is small, but with her speed, she can make two or more gold runs in one battle. You can read a battle report at
http://www.cke1st.com/Games/Batl_2008.htm#Batl0304 to see what this ship (and her near-sister, the Proud Tortoise) can do.

It's hard to go wrong for only six points. The Noble Swan has no drawbacks except her small cargo, which isn't a fatal flaw for a small ship. I use her almost every time I field a Jade fleet.

Goldship rating: 3.4 / 5
Gun Ship rating: 2.2 / 5
Boarding rating: 2.2 / 5
Value for points: 3.8 / 5
