Cadet-Captain Mike Name: La Sirviente
Card: MI #064 (Common)
Points: 14
Faction: Spanish

Masts: 3
Cargo: 3
Moves: S+L
Guns : 2S, 2L, 2S
Hit %: 200 (S), 133 (L)
Link : The Mask
Keyword: Schooner.
Ability: As part of a move action, this ship may initiate a boarding party against a ship up to S away from her, without having to ram. The boarded ship may not use any boarding bonuses.

La Sirviente is one of the most colorful ships in the game. She's also a superb middleweight fighter; her speed and cannons are as good as you'll ever need, and her ability can soften up the enemy before her cannons speak. A Captain is all the crew she'll ever need. You could skip the crew and run gold with her, although she's kind of expensive for that role.

Speaking of crew, what's the point of linking to The Mask, who gives a move/shoot and an S-board? This ship already has an S-board. If you have the seven points for The Mask, spend it on a Captain and Joaquin Vega instead. Vega lets you ignore the first hit each turn as long as you have all your masts; now you can try your luck against four-masted enemies with a fair chance of success.

This ship's battle plan should be a succession of move/S-board/shoot combos. Her schooner turn can get her into optimal position for firing, and her speed can get her into S range pretty consistently. With ships like this, I can't understand why WK's fluff text says Spain's power is fading. This is one fine ship.

Draco Starcloud La Sirviente

Here’s another boat with good speed (S+L) and good cannons (two long-2s, one short-2), but this one is rare for a pre-PotC set: it’s decorative! It has decent cargo space too (3) and its ability (board from S away) is good if you want to do some sneaky boarding; La Sirviente is big enough to try boarding anything with less than five masts. It’s a good fighter if you want to soften your targets up too. The ship links to The Mask, though his contributions are a bit expensive: for seven points all he will add is that he won’t take up a cargo space and the ship will now have “Move and Shoot.” To other boats, The Mask would allow the “board from S away” ability, but La Sirviente already has that ability. A captain would be more economical and economy is good since this boat already costs 14 points!

It gets a 3.5 for good speed, cannons, and boarding skills but also for average cargo space, high cost, and a lackluster link.
Nick La Sirviente (14 points, Spanish)

Masts: 3
Cargo: 3
Move: S+L
Cannons: 2L, 2S, 2L
Ability: Schooner. As part of a move action, this ship may initiate a boarding party against a ship up to S away from her, without having to ram. The boarded ship may not use any boarding bonuses.
Flavor Text: Either daring or mad, The Mask and his crew are well known for swinging over open water to board and assault enemy vessels before the ships are in contact, with extra gold going to the sailor exhibiting the most creative maneuver.

The vibrant colors of La Sirviente will stand out amongst any fleet, as will her helpful qualities. La Sirviente is of an average number of masts, sitting at a somewhat comfortable three. Her cargo is mediocre, but sticking a helmsman and a captain on board won't do any damage, unless it's the other fleet we're talking about. With a helmsman and captain on board, La Sirviente suddenly becomes a highly expensive three master, but she also becomes a dangerous three master. She would cost a ridiculous nineteen points, but as you should with any fighter, captains are necessities, and helmsman are quite useful. At nineteen points, La Sirviente would have a cargo of one, a speed of S+S+L, and the capability of utilizing her fantastic cannons to perfection with the captain. Her ability is that of middle of the road standards, considering three masters generally shouldn't be used as boarding ships. The ability is beneficial, but a fighting ability would make her a real gem. So I say throw a helmsman and a captain on board and pay for her none too cheap price. Not only will she spruce up your fleet, she'll become a valuable fighting factor.
