Ability: Once per turn, this ship may look at one
face-down cargo on any ship.
The James Madison is that rarest of ships, an
American gold runner.
She has the speed and the cargo a gold ship needs,
at a reasonable price. Granted, other factions have
similar ships for as little as 5 points, but we
American admirals are used to that. Her ability can
help pick a rich victim for boarding, or find out in
advance which crew are on your enemy's big gunship.
It adds nothing to the gold game, so even if you
forget to use it, you'll still bring in plenty of
treasure.
If it was up to me, I'd have named this ship the
Alexander Hamilton, after the first US Secretary of
the Treasury. James Madison was a patriot, but not a
money man, and the ship that bears his name is all
about money. She's not exceptional compared to other
factions, but she's one of the best gold ships the
USA has.
