When Ocean's Edge came out, it included a lot of new
versions of older ships. Some were better than they
used to be (like La Resolucion), some were worse (El
Acorazado). This version of L'Afrique is a big, big
improvement over the original.
They sped her up, improved her cannons, and reduced
her price; this is all good. Okay, they cut her
cargo in half, but so what? How many crew were you
planning to stuff into a seven-point ship anyway?
Now she's a speedy secondary fighter that's good
against Pirates and okay against anyone else. She
needs a Captain, of course; I wouldn't use any more
points on crew for her, since she may not stay
afloat long in battle.
The old L'Afrique was one of France's worst 9-point
ships. Now she's one of her best 7-pointers. I like
it when things improve.
