Another seven-point English ship, eh? Is this one better or worse than HMS Galway, which we reviewed earlier in the week? Let's find out.

Quick summary: she's slower, has slightly better cargo, and has better cannons. That keeps her in the role of small fighter, much like the Galway, but you'll probably want to add a Helmsman as well as a Captain. Her ability to choose which mast falls (mast; Master; get it?) isn't that important if she's sniping at enemy gold runners, but can be useful against other fighters.

This is a slightly better fighter than the Galway, but her sail-away cost is higher because she needs a Helmsman. Average marks.

Total rating: 3 / 5
Sumpbeast HMS Master

Fighter. HMS Master is meant to be a support fighter.

Two long range cannons (2L and 3L) and low cargo space. She could use the helmsman with only a L range movement. Her ability (you choose which mast on her target is eliminated) augments her fighting capabilities. This ability is less relevant in the later sets where many ships have the same gun rating at each mast, but sometimes it could be useful to take out a particular mast. Also good long range guns are nothing to laugh at. I wouldn’t put a named crew member on this ship, just the generic stuff. Sneak HMS Master up the field along with your main fighter and take her shots as the main ship engages the enemy. HMS Master is small and decently priced 3/5.

Cargo: 2
Move: L
Cannons: L3, L2
Points: 7

This is one of my favorite 2-masters in the set. The things that jump out at you immediately are the low points, the good cannons, and the slow move. so if you want to fight with this thing, youll want a helmsman first. and then probably a captain. I cant see anyone jumping up and down to put a double captain on this thing, and i think its too small for any named crew.
Another small British ship with two good cannons and 7 points. Compared to the HMS Galway, which we reviewed earlier this week, this ship is amazing. Sure, it moves a S less, but it has 2 better cannons, one more cargo, and a good ability. This ship is a fighter ship, and there is nothing that can stop it from being one.
Which brings us to the ability. This ship gets to eliminate any mast it wants, which can help against ships with cannons like 3s and 4s so that you can eliminate the 3s instead of the 4s. I like this ship even more than the HMS Galway, and I give it a 3.5/5.

English (LE)
Masts: 2
Cargo: 2
Speed: L
Cannons: 2L 3L
Ability:When this ship hits another ship, you choose which mast is eliminated.
Flavor Text:The English have embraced small ships that can hit hard.

Hmm...not too bad of a ship, really. It's much better than the 1 mast Pirate ship Queen of Cups, but then has worse cannons than the 2 mast Spanish ship La Reconquistador. Heck, the only difference with the Reconquistador is that HMS Master doesn't have 2 rank 2 L range cannons. If I was playing a pure English fleet, this ship wouldn't be too bad, but I'm sure that there are much better picks for a much lower price. In terms of real world pricing, this ship is an LE, so it garners some attention on "that auction site".
This is an above average vessel in my opinion, and receives a 3/5.
