Sumpbeast Nautilus, the flagship of Mysterious Islands, and a cool ship. I got lucky and pulled this one out of my first few packs. The Nautilus has 3 average short ranged guns and is fairly slow at L speed, but is fairly tough, needing two hits from the same shoot action before masts (or hull pieces are removed). As a submarine she is also difficult to hit unless the firing ship has the special “shoot submerged” ability. Being a submarine and having her link to Captain Nemo would suggest that you use this ship for boarding and steal crew from your enemy. There is some space for storing cargo, but I would like to have a positive modifier to boarding before I try stealing crew.

Nautilus isn’t the most fearsome of the submarines but is a cool collector’s item anyway, 3/5.

The Nautilus is Nemo's flagship, and since Nemo is the centerpiece of the Mysterious Islands universe, you'd expect his ship to be something special. Is she? I guess that depends.

Her speed is low, but typical for a sub. Her cargo is average, but large for a sub. Her cannons are strictly average, but a sub won't normally use her cannons that often. Her special ability is an excellent defensive trait that will come in handy whether she goes in on the surface, or stays underwater and gets poked by an enemy that can fire on submerged ships. So, as ships go, she's average; as subs go, she's pretty good.

Nautilus plus Nemo is a hefty 24-point combination. Nemo's ability to add infinite crew to his ship, if allowed to go unchecked, will overcome all the Nautilus' shortcomings and make her the ultimate killer of the seas. Naturally, Nemo's enemies will spare no effort to keep this from happening, so the sub's defensive ability will be even more important.

16 points is a tad steep for a 3-"mast" ship. But it's not so bad for a submarine that takes seven hits to sink. This ship could make a real nuisance of itself.

Total rating: 3 / 5
