It’s a catch-up week here at Pojo, we’ll take a look at a couple of Spanish ships today and Friday, and our Crew-Fer on Wednesday will be Topnwe’s choices from the little contest I ran awhile back.

I chose this vessel because it has an LE counterpart that many of your who participated in WizKids Pirates Plunder program probably received in the mail in exchange for a few dubloons and some useless foil wrappers.

So how good is she?  Eh.  A 12 point three master is pretty expensive, even though her ability is fantastic, it’s just too bloody expensive.  Sure, I like the 2S guns, but only three of them?  And only four cargo?  No, she’s not going to end up in any Spanish fleet that I make.  But I’m far from the best Spanish player out there.  In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever made a Spanish fleet.  I know the Spanish have quite a few adherents though, and they seem to enjoy playing her.

As an uncommon, the first edition and the unlimited edition sell for a couple bucks or less.  The LE, which has now been WIDELY distributed, goes for about $4-6.

My Ratings

1st Edition & Unlimited Edition

Playability 2.5 of 5

Collectability 2 of 5

LE Edition

Playability 2.5 of 5

Collectability 3 of 5

Next time – Our newest reviewer Topnwe won the little contest I ran here: http://www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=199528.  We’ll be looking at Robinson and Carbon Charlie!

When this ship hits an enemy ship, you may also eliminate one cargo from that ship.

The "Ship Killer" is armed with huge bore cannons capable of devastating short-range damage. Capitan Gonzalo Mora first rose to prominence on her deck.

A 12 point 3 mast with 3 3S cannons seems a bit pricey. She SCREAMS for a captain and a 2 turn roller. Maybe even a canon extender (you know, a Viagra for cannons). Not bad but just a litle pricey on the points. Destroying a cargo is not that great IMO. Seems like you would only use it to help you catch up by causing them to lose gold, but I would rather make them try to catch up. Oh well, Que cera cera. (sp)

Rating:
Points: 2/5 - 12 is a bit pricey for a 3 mast with no long range
Ability: 3/5 - Cargo killing is rentsy and situational
Collectibility: 3/5 - An uncommon 3 mast. The Ghost version is a bit more collectible to me

Overall: 2.67/5 Not too great, but there are worse pulls.

Till next time...

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.

If you ask me, you're overpaying for this ship. For 12 points, you get
3 masts with 2S cannons (not too shabby I guess :\) and 1L of movement.
You also get 4 cargo slots which means this isn't much of a treasure hauler. The ability to take out a cargo from what you hit isn't that great, as most ships you'd want to remove cargo from are faster than this dude. Honestly, the only reason I could ever see myself playing this ship is for the cannons, and there are better (and cheaper, for what you get) choices for that.

Rating: 2/5
