Pirates of the Revolution – Commander Albert Crenshaw POR #95

Name: Commander Albert Crenshaw
Set: POR
Card #s: 095
Type: Crew
Cost: 5 Points
Faction: American
Ability: “All of this ship's cannons have L range.”
Flavor Text: “Crenshaw would rather fight the Redcoats than pirate scum, and so he has begun a private war on the Crimson Coast to keep his personal agenda alive.”
I mentioned this crewman in my Enterprise review, because he goes perfectly with that particular ship. In order to play him you’ve got to have a ship with a decent point total, because otherwise you won’t get any other room. Combine him with a Captain, and you’re looking at 8 points of crew (and two cargo spaces) BUT, you’ll be able to move and shoot, with all of your cannons at long range. He’s certainly expensive, but on a ship like Enterprise, which only has S cannons, he could be the key to winning games.
And he’s a common as well, so he should be really easy to pick up for between $1 and $2.

My Ratings
Playability 3 of 5
Collectability 2 of 5

Pirates of the Revolution – King George POR #96

Name: King George
Set: POR
Card #s: 096A
Type: Crew
Cost: 4 Points
Faction: American
Ability: “Once per turn, this ship may randomly take one treasure from any ship she touches. “
Flavor Text: “Found by Carl Smith, he was named King George for the only other cur Smith knew. In boarding attacks, K.G. heads for the officers’ quarters to grab whatever fits in his mouth.”
While I don’t see much point in playing this crew piece, I love the fact that WK put him in the game. I love that there’s animals as crew (there’s Skyme the Monkey as well), and I think that it totally adds to the character of the overall game. Is he playable? Naaah. 4 points is too much for this ability, because if you’re close enough to touch them, you’re close enough to blast them out of the water. Still, it’s a nice little surprise for your opponent when you flip him over and steal one of his treasures.

This common card comes with an Event as well, and it’s Mermaids, so this card MIGHT have a slight premium over the other commons. I’d still expect to spend no more than $2 on the single.

Playability 2 of 5
Collectability 2.5 of 5

Newbulous Commander Albert Crensahw POR #95

All of this ship's cannons have L range.

This is the piece I was referring to yesterday. This + Enterprise surpasses the Titan by a mile, but at the cost of five whopping points is it really worth it? I can’t really see this piece used on a treasure ship to add range due to its high end cost and the only warship that can partially use it is the Enterprise.

Constructed: would rather use base set gastly (pokemon fans would get this one) 1.5/5 since it serves some purpose for the Enterprise.
Limited: 2.5/5 adding that range when your fleet choice is small can definitely be beneficial, but the smaller amount of American ships in the game lowers the score slightly.

King George POR #96

Once per turn, this ship may randomly take one treasure from any ship she touches.

This is one little doggy I am a fan of. Four points may seem steep but on a fast moving ship with good pinning and boarding capabilities you can steal a lot of gold. An alternative tactic is to use this crew member on your treasure ships to take any gold from a warship/treasure hybrid in the vicinity of your ship.

Constructed 3.5/5
Limited 4/5 Costly, but you’ll have treasure ships battling treasures here if you don’t get any rare five masted ships
