Pirates of the Crimson Coast – Fort Brompton #047

Name: Fort Brompton

Set: POCC

Card #s: #047

Type: Fort

Cost: 3 Points

Cannons: 3L, 3L, 3L, 3L,

Faction: English

Rarity: Common

Ability: This fort gets +1 to its cannon rolls when a ship is docked at it.

Flavor Text: “Fort Brompton is constantly short on soldiers, especially gunnery crews. Many rumors try to explain this, from cannibals on the island to seduction by the native girls, but the truth may simply be that the strategically placed fort has seen more than its share of deadly combat.”

I suppose that Fort Brompton makes a pretty good double for Port Royal, though Port Royal is actually referenced on some of the cards, and it was a real place, so perhaps we’ll actually SEE a Port Royal fort in an upcoming expansion.

Don’t really have much to say about this fort, other than I like the ability, and were I to use this piece, I’d keep a small 1 master that doesn’t cost a whole lot of points docked at her all the time, just for that +1, since a 3L gun is not to shabby in the first place.  Only 4 of them though could stand to be improved with perhaps a Marine.

Forts are still Common, and as such you shouldn’t pay more than a couple bucks.

My Ratings:

Playability 3 of 5

Collectability 2.5 of 5

Next week:  Fuzzball made some choices, we’ll have to see what’s up his sleeve…see you on the High Seas mateys!

Aethereal Fort Brompton

For the bargain price of 3 gold, look what you get: 4 L-range 3-rank
cannons and an ability that turns this fort from a decent damage-dealer
into a monster. Just keep a ship docked there - a very small price to
pay, especially if it's a 1-master that you don't have a lot of use for
anymore - and suddenly the cannons turn into L-range 2-rank cannons.
For 3 gold this is great to have. The downside to this ability is you
might run into one of those ships that can't be targeted by L-range
cannons. That hurts, so make sure you run Ramsgate too. If you have to
pick between Fort Brompton and Ramsgate, I'd go with Ramsgate, but if
you can use both, definitely go for it as this is great if you can keep
a ship docked at it.

Rating: 4/5

Pippin Fort Brompton

Ah, the closest thing to Port Royal we have in the game. A great fort that has a pretty cool effect.

I have built this by docking the Titan on an island while one of my opponants ships was in range. I rolled for Myngs and for Titans effect and got both. So they were looking at 19 shots and because of Bromptons effect, all were 2S and 2L shots. Nothing can survive that. It was NASTY. At the end of it, there was a new island where the other ship was made entirely of cannonballs.

Cost: 3 gold - 4/5 Very good. Can be EASILY gotten in one shipment.

Effect: 3/5 - Can be nasty in the right case. It may be fun to park a Rover on her and let him stay there to get the effect.

Collectibility: 3/5 - Forts are pretty cool and add a dynamic to the game I like. Its not rare but it is fun, and a nifty thing to build.

OVERALL: 3.3/5 - a welcome addition to any British Fleet

Until next time, That has got to be the best pirate I have ever seen.

I M Einstein Fort Brompton-Crimson Coast-English-Fort-3gold

Fort Brompton is an English fort from crimson coast. It's a cheap 3 gold and has 4 3L cannons. To me this fort seems like more of a war fort than a base, but you can use it as either. The effect makes it a powerhouse. You only have to have a ship on it to make it's guns act like 2L cannons. This fort gets a 4/5
