Beastly Mage

Violent Emotion

Today's card is a good one for Female decks. Violent Emotion allows you to check out the top cards from your deck and look for either a Jutsu or a Mission. The amount of cards you can check out depends on how many Females you have out. So, if you have 3 out, you can inspect the top 3. On top of that, you can put these cards back in any order you want, allowing for better draws later on. ;-] Now, this effect only applies to how many Female-only Ninjas you have out, so Female/Male Squads and Platoons are not covered with this effect.

Ratings:

Limited: 2/5
Constructed: 3/5
Block: 3/5
Art: I've heard of "tree-huggers"... but "tree-punchers"?!/5

Today's card is a weaker version of another mission, that mission being Protean. Protean did the exact same thing except the number was 5 rather than X. I'd rather have had it reprinted than this being made since this card relies on you to have at least 3-4 females out to be effective. At T2, you'll have usually have only 3 ninjas out making this effect somewhat weak, but still decent. Late game on the other hand, this card can easily make you search 5+ cards.

It's a decent card, but there are better Wind Missions out there, but it might see some play in Kunoichi decks.

Limited: 1/5 Too inconsistent
Unlimited: 1.75/5 Personally, I like Protean better than this due to its consistency and it can be used outside of Female decks.
Block: 2.25/5 Better due to lack of Protean, but still lackluster compared to other game changing missions Wind has.

Violent Emotion
M-653

Hope you all enjoyed our chibi preview card. I’m still in awe over its cuteness. Anyway, welcome to another week of COTD reviews. Today we have a card from Will of Fire, Violent Emotion!

Let me just start by saying this. Sakura looks like a total ***** in this picture, having the dent in a tree and threatening to beat Sai to death were he to “say anything else.” Can you honestly believe that Kishimoto was surprised to learn that Sakura was one of the least popular characters in his series?

Anyway, this card isn’t bad. Thing is, wind just has so many other options. Yeah it lets you rearrange the top cards in your deck and it might net you one. However, wind already has Loss, Sakura’s Decision, Entrustment (platinum promo in the next tourney kit), Pressing, and even Tears of Determination if you are feeling frisky. Wind has the best draw engine in the game, and it seems that this card would have been better suited for Earth…or maybe even to just have this effect on a female ninja. As it stands, wind just really doesn’t have the space for a mission card that can at best give it a -1 to your hand. Not good enough for wind, honestly.

Limited: 3/5 Good to get at least SOME draw power in a draft.
Block: 1.5/5 Wind just has better options…
Unlimited: 1.5/5 Same deal here.
Art: Sakura, you heinous *****. Sai was just trying to help.
