N. Jolly

J-605 White Fang's Blade

Man, this has been a really weird weekend.  A nice night of RE 5, meeting up with someone I haven't talked to since I was 5, and having watched Wrestlemania 26 (Not a fan of wrestling, but it was a fun night with Rockband and such); it was pretty fun.  Next week, I hunt eggs in what has been dubbed an "Eggstravagana", which is it's proper name.  All in all, great days in store for Mr. N. Jolly!

Today's card is kind of a new pump, just like set 17 is trying to push onto the game.  I'm not into the whole pump theme (or anti pump for Fire), but if the game slows down, they could be pretty useful.  But let's check out it's stats, shall we:

White Fang's Blade
Fire l One
Target: User
Effect: The target gets +3/+3 during this turn. Additionally, if the user is "Kakashi Hatake", the user gets +2/+2 and cannot be affected by effects of your opponent's Jutsu cards during this turn.

It's a decent pump if you're Kakashi...but if not, Might Guy will probably provide a better pump that actually builds chakra.  It's kind of hard to validate this as a misc pump, as it has a specific element in it's cost.  Beyond that, most pumps are generally better than this.  Pumps are kind of inefficient right now, as even after the block switch, we'll still have Sharingan Kunai, Chidori, Fireball, and Visual Jutsu.  With all of those still in the game, it'll be hard to validate pumps as a viable strategy.

Limited: 1.5/5 There's plenty of better jutsu in block, especially for fire.  Getting off it's Kakashi super pump isn't too likely either
Constructed: 1.5/5 Pumps mean nothing here unless they're really early game or massive...this is neither...
Block: 1.5/5 Until the shift, this card will not see play.  Even after the shift, there's enough good jutsu left that this isn't a valid option
Art: This sword is so strong I can kill anything that I attack!  It's so powerful, that I shall never use it again/5

3/29/10 J-605 White Fang's Blade
=========================

Today's jutsu is the blade of Kakashi's father, Hatake Sakumo. For one fire and one colorless, any ninja get's a +3/+3 pump out, however, if the user is Kakashi, he get's an additional +2/+2. While +5/+5 isn't too impressive for a Kakashi jutsu, it can still be used by anyone else for a small pump.

Pros:
No requirements
Nice pump for Kakashi

Cons:
Weak pump for the cost for everyone else. The problem is that you're not going to really use this unless you have Kakashi.

Combos:
White Fang's Blade can combo well with Kakashi (Childhood) since it is a cheap +5/+5 at T0, and it does not get an increased jutsu cost.

Limited: 2/5 No requirements, and there is a common Kakashi in the set
Constructed: 1.75/5 Much better options here.

Beastly Mage

White Fang's Blade

Sorry about the Ninja vanishing act last week. I've had one of those weeks...

Anywho, on to today's card!

White Fang's Blade is a pretty good Pumping Jutsu if used right. +3/+3 is good, but when Kakashi uses it, then it becomes a +5/+5 with Jutsu protection rather than just 3. Since we do have a turn 0 Kakashi, Boyhood Kakashi, and so many adult versions, there's no lack of valid users for this card in constructed format. Try it and see!

Ratings:

Limited: 2/5
Constructed: 3/5
Block: 3.5/5
Art: Kakashi + Sword = Bad @$$!!!
