Beastly Mage

Kurenai Yuhi

Today's card is a new version of Kurenai. Same basic stats (as a no-hand cost Kurenai). The effect is a good one. During the Battle Phase, your Ninjas are protected from your the effects of your opponent's Ninjas. That means that, for example, Sasuke [CH] won't do anything to them. She's good for any deck that can find space for her, particularly Kunoichi decks. She's also good in Limited, where Ninjas with no hand cost are a must. Try it and see!

6/8/10 N-790 Kuneai Yuhi
===================

Today's card is the newest version of Kurenai, and a very good one at that. Kurenai returns with her usual 4/3 2/3 stats, Jonin, and Genjutsu CA, plus she's a Female which is good, but her main draw is her effect. She can protect your ninjas from cards like Sasuke Uchiha [CH], The Fourth Hokage [SN], Baki [AB], and other annoying ninjas that can do heavy damage to your teams.

Her effect is very good in any wind deck and it's quite splashable as well for the side deck. It's been awhile since we've had a Kurenai, but this one makes up for the wait.

Limited: 3/5 No hand cost, decent stats, and good effect
Constructed: 3/5
Block: 3.5/5
Art: I always laugh whenever I see this card for some reason. I know I'm a bad person.

Kurenai Yuhi
[Waiting for Someone's Return]
N-790

Man, she looks so sad. Understandably so...the father of her child is dead...poor Asuma.

Anyway, I do like this Kurenai for sideboard material. She has usual Kurenai stats and characteristics, and is unfortunately not valid. She's good to swap in when your opponent is running an ninja effect heavy deck. Her effect covers from the beginning of the battle phase until the start of the showdown. (So she stops Gaara.) Thing is, there are just so many other better turn 4 ninja; no one will have the room for poor lonely Kurenai. If you are running females, you'd run big sister, and in Genjutsu you'd run the Genjutsu -1/-1 version that's being reprinted in the Chibi packs.

Limited: 4/5 Always nice to have a 3 support.
Block: 2.5/5. Sideboard material at best. (If you even have the space and are THAT worried about ninja effects.)
Unlimited: 2.5/5. Same as above.
