Beastly Mage

Narrow Escape

Today's card is a nice little piece of pwnage. Narrow Escape takes care of those nasty Squad cards in an instant by removing them from play. It's a pretty good counter mission for both Fire and Wind. With Squads becoming so commonly used, one could use a little help with them. In limited, I'm not so sure about this card. But, in constructed... OUCH! (for your opponent if you play it, that is).

Limited: 2/5
Constructed: 4/5

It seems Pojo noticed that for most of the last review, I complained about the word "Rampageous" not being real.  He then looked it up, and I guess it is, despite what my spell check says.  Who knew?  So my review yesterday was probably a bit shorter due to that.  Honestly, this card plays into the "Couple's Skate" theme this week seems to follow (excluding horror pig).

Today's card is a cool new counter mission that really just stomps squads flat.  It's a card that might even be overkill in the right situation, but outside of that, it's not useful.  But let's check out it's stats, shall we:

Narrow Escape

Fire/Wind

T2 HC1

Counter

Target: 1 "Squad" Ninja that was put into play this turn.

Effect: Remove the target from the game.

Set 16: Rare

And bam!  That's a massive effect, slamming your opponent's two ninja investment and building your chakra.  Imagine all the ninjas that hits: Sas/Oro, Naru/Yama, Saku/Tsu, Shiba, Saku/Hina, Saikura, the new Shikashi, and others.  Making your opponent burn both parts of a squad, and not even having to chain to your opponent's squading makes this card a very hard hitter.  Now some cards rely on the squad deck more than others, so this is a pretty solid side board card, but something tells me that it would make one heck of a main board as well.  In both Fire and Wind, this card is dangerous.

If your opponent isn't playing squads, this is a dead card in hand, but having two symbols helps ease that a bit.  Still, this card does rely on your opponents deck to function at it's full potential, which just reeks of side board.  I personally really like this card, but it seems like it'll be a bit hard to fit it into any deck's mission lineup without seeing your opponent's deck in action.  But when it goes off, a card like this wins games.

Limited: 1/5 Squads are rare here, so would be getting this card off.

Constructed: 3.75/5 Massive power here, but situational...I like it!

Block: 3.75/5 Same as constructed for now, but has lots of potential!

Art: Just like everyone else, Naruto wants Sai to shut his pale mouth.  I can get behind that kind of motivation/5

M-611 Narrow Escape

Greetings again Pojo readers. Happy Friday, and have a great Valentine's this weekend! We have our final preview, Narrow Escape for you today.

I am really interested in this card. It's great for the sideboard when your opponent is reliant on squads. Just wait until they drop Shino/Kiba and then you play this on them. Watch them cry as they instantly just lost two ninja with no gain. One of my favorite uses of this card will for sure be on the Tsunade/Sakura squad, since its not immune to mission effects. I do however wish this card had been changed a bit. If it said "Target: 1 squad or platoon ninja," then the card would be amazing. Unfortunately, you can only use it the turn they squad the card. But taking out that Naruto/Yamato once before it can drop two missions will still make this card worthy of the sideboard.

Limited: 1/5 Squads have no use in the limited format.
Constructed: 3.5/5 Just because it would be a good sideboard card.

=========================

Two previews in a row? Sweet! At least today's isn't as terrible as that srupis pig >.<

This card is yet another Squad Hater we've been seeing coming out this set and this is one is really nice. It rfg's a squad being put in play which is good since they just lost ninjas by squading them. This can really hurts when try pulling out power squads such as Naruto/Yamato, Naruto/Jiriya, Orochimaru/Sasuke, etc. since they lost two of there strongest ninjas. While there is already a lot of squad hate now (Shimon, Crying in Vain, Miroku) and in the upcoming set (Tsunade Childhood, Kiba&Aka) this card is still good since it has an element of surprise to it, unlike the others.

Limited: 1/5 Squads are hard to pull-off in limited
Constructed: 3/5 Good sideboard against A New Squad Decks
Block: 3/5 No difference since all squads are block legal.
