Beastly Mage

A New Squad

Today's card is one that's sure to help those players with a lot of squads integrated to their decks. Same goes with those who like Platooning. A New Squad gives you some draw power for that way of putting Ninjas in play. Somewhat hard to pull off in Limited, in my experience. But, in Constructed, it's pretty nice. Try it and see!

N. Jolly
M-487 A New Squad

Hello all, it's a good day to be an N. Jolly, as is every day, because I am awesome. But enough applause for now, we've got cards to review!

Today's card is one of my favorite of the set, A New Squad. When I first saw this card, I wasn't impressed. I thought of it as A Well Planned Mission, a card with a decent application that really needed a deck built around it. It was on a good element, even though I thought it could have been dual'd with Earth, but overall, I wasn't impressed. This was a card that I underestimated very much.

A New Squad makes you draw two cards every time you play a squad or platoon. That with Wind is insane. Let's go through some of our options, shall we: Shino/Kiba, Kiba/Aka, Shizune/Tonton/, Shikamaru/Temari, Temari/Kankuro, Sakura/Sai, and those are just the on element ones (I consider Kiba/Aka on element). You could easily find your way into putting Naru/Sai and Naru/Hina in the deck with minimal effort, and each one would net you two draws, even more if you have more than one out.

This is a card that allows Wind to draw even faster for something that it's going to do anyway. Imagine on T3 hitting this mission with Kiba, Akamaru, and Shino on board. First squad out into Kiba/Aka, and then into Shino/Kiba. You just got four draws off of one mission, and you can still possibly play Shika/Tem in the same turn, netting you two more draws!

This is a very solid card for Wind, and I recommend it in most Wind decks that run more than 3 squad/plat options.

Constructed:4.5/5 Just incredible draw
Limited:2/5 It really needs to be built around.

Master Wang A New Squad

Another day, another card and if you thought Wind was pretty crazy on draw power....they still are.

A New Squad is certainly a force that is to be reckoned with if utilized correctly. Even if you get this effect off once, there's barely any drawback to it, especially if you run the Formation jutsu. Easy to be abused, as well, especially if Shino/Kiba & Kiba/Akamaru Squads aren't you're only Squads.

It's better than One Morning and that says enough for Wind...

Limited: 2/5
Constructed: 4/5
