Beastly Mage

Neji Hyuga

Another Neji?

Yeah, and this one's a Genin.

Today's card is actually pretty good. Let's take the first effect into consideration: No Ninjas in the field at turn 1 OR they're all injured at turn 1... even though this guy's a turn 2, he can still be deployed since at that moment his turn cost just went down by 1.That's pretty nice, since in Limited you can sometimes find yourself with an empty village at turn 1.

Then comes the second effect. When he's sent out to block, he gets +2/+0, meaning he's a 5/0 (without growth) when he's blocking during the turn. A pump-up is always good, trust me. To top it off that effect is valid!

Will this card replace [Sealing the Abilities]? Don't think so, but it's still pretty good.

So today I'd like to type about a card that has been pretty over-looked by the community, but is very stable. Neji Hyuga Coolness and Passion.

Now along with a very cool name, Neji is very strong when going against a tempo or rush deck. He can be deployed on turn 1 if you have all injured ninjas or none at all. He also becomes a 5/0 5/0 while blocking, a number few ninjas can match on turn 2. Very nice indeedz.

Now obviously the more consistent choice will be set 12's neji, but when going against rush decks, he could really help. That makes him side-board material if nothing else.

Overall, he's kind of a tool card, in which I mean a card that covers a certain strategy better than most cards but is not overall great. He'll proly see some play this format, or maybe even next, we'll see.

Constructed: 3 out of 5. Very good answer to a strategy.
Art: 5 out of 5. Name alone would've been ubz, but the art is really good too.
StormVyper Zera Neji Hyuga [Coolness and Passion]

Man, there are some really cool Neji in this set. When going out to Block, this card jumps to a 5/0, while ducking under Shikamaru [Formation]. And if you've got nothing but Injured Ninja or no Ninja at all, this card comes out a turn earlier as well. This is one of those general use cards, but people may play [Sealing the Anilities] over this one because turning off Ninja effects is just better plan.

Limited - 3/5
Constructed - 2/5
