Beastly Mage

Kakashi Hatake

Today's card is the newest version of Kakashi from set 12. This guy actually has a built-in Sharingan Eye-like protection effect. If your opponent targets any of your Ninjas in Kakashi's team (Kakashi included) with a Jutsu, you can discard two Fire Chakras and the effect is negated and the Jutsu is discarded. This could make your opponent think twice before using 8 Triagrams, Air Palm, or any other targeting Jutsu. It's not a valid effect, but he's got some solid stats to hold his own, so he is that good in Constructed and Limited.

Kakashi Hatake [Detection of the Movement]

I'm not 100% where to rate this card as it seems to have a love/hate relationship. Shoryken Kakashi can negate Jutsus, which is important in this jutsu heavy environment. That does, however, put you on the defensive, and you also have Sasuke [Complete Opening of the Eyes] for negation as well. I'm not completely sold on him since The Eye that Detects Falsehood exists and he seems like a better option since Overflowing Chakra can't target him. Player preference here.

At the moment, I'd give him an average grade as he can see some use, but personally I see others played over him for now.

Constructed: 2.8 out of 5.0
Limited: 2.4 out of 5.0 (Hand cost.)

Today we go over the newest installment of the "Let's make Kakashi even more nutz than before!" show.....-_- Kakashi Hatake from set 12.

Kakashi has gotten some good treatment in this game, it began with the Early Settlement (set 2) insanity of gaining battle rewards even if blocked. We got the next big deal with The Worst Outcome (set 8) in a time of Gaara Tragic Name throwing everything in sight, we got a glimpse of recursion. Anbu Days (set 9) was a initially underrated card that eventually won the sanin by bringing Gaara food to the table along with being the first good mental power Kakashi. Eye that Detects Falsehood (set 10) Brought the Mental Power 3 to turn 5 Kakashi's along with being unaffected by non-genjutsu users jutsu. In set 11 we got another mental protector, only this time it blanked all leaf turn 4's and lower from jutsu all together! And now, in set 12 we have a Kakashi that negates jutsu for the cost of a Sharingan Eye! what a beast.

This really didn't need to be on a Kakashi, With Mental Power 3, Fire now has an excuse not to run Coote in favor of an early presence Sasuke Uchiha.

The only downside that he got (and needed) was not being valid, so shuriken tells him to simmer down, and Gaara just ignores him, but still.

In closing, Bandai for the past 15 months we've been given new, improved Kakashi Hatake's, any chance you could give us a break?

Constructed: 4 out of 5. If you run fire, run him.
Limited: 5 out of 5. His effect is insane.
Art: 4 out of 5. Watch out for the uppercut!

That Guy

Kakashi Hatake

No sleep + lots of homework + many tests = Sad That Guy

Well as always, shalom my fellow duelist. Today I will talk about the guy who seems to always get better...Kakashi!

For any Kakashi it seems that when a new one comes out we can still find a use for the previous one. The point I am trying to get across is that for the most part Kakashi will always be good, only having a few strategically less playable alternate versions. Kakashi (Detection of the movement) is a godsend for fire, now allowing Kakashi to basically use the Sharigan jutsu for two fires. This Kakashi has all the standard stuff, nice stats, 3 mental, sharigan, etc. This Kakashi will definitely be playable right along with Early Settlement and Growth of the Pupil. With it's effect there is an endless amount of positive examples I could give and reasons why this card should be played.

P.S. My favorite Kakashi is Instant Detection!

Mark Howard Kakashi [Uppercut]

We've gotten a lot of Kakashi cards, but only the supers were any good (save Gifted Ninja of the Leaf and ANBU). ES had his time, and now ETDF is the big Kakashi, though his protection effect isn't as useful as it could be. Then we have the Tin Kakashi who, again, isn't that great. This is the best Kakashi. For just two Fire Chakras, you can instantly negate any jutsu you don't like. Trigrams, Air Palm, Sand Tomb, ANYTHING you don't like, gets negated any time you want.

The downside is that his effect is equivalent to using a 3-Chakra Jutsu, and Fire decks have the worst chakra buildup of the 5 elements, except for Water (sometimes). But that's nothing compared to getting hit by something like those ^ or even Shadow Clone Jutsu, Giant Rasengan or a 2K Barrage. Whoops, looks like it can't stop things like Shadow Clones.

4.5/5

Fun Fact: Sasuke is SO broken.
Tomorrow: I eat Dibs.
