Beastly Mage

7: Lightning Blade

Probably my favorite Kakashi Jutsu, this version of Lightning Blade is a killer. First, it can either hurt or kill an opposing Ninja (depending on how many BR's there are), plus he gets pumped up both on Combat and Support depending how many there are. To some that's just crazy. But, I love the effect. Try it and see!

Lightning Blade
[The Chosen Version]

The first (and I'll spoil this) and only jutsu to make the countdown, we bring you the best of the best of single user devastation. It's cheap, 1 fire and one colorless and you can devastate an entire team. Of course, this card is best when your opponent has 5 or more battle rewards, because you will for sure kill and ninja and most likely overwhelm the other two. Not only that, but Kakashi doesn't even have to be up front to use this monster. He can fire it off from support. Definitely worth its Super Rare status, this card can swing the tide of battle in a single use, let alone when you run them in threes. This think is so amazing, it makes the other versions of Lightning Blade look like a joke in comparison. That's saying something too, because I've always thought all the other versions were pretty good until this beast was released. It can't be fanned, can't be hit with subjective. The only thing that can stop it is Sharingan or the Sasuke from Monday (and water wall too, I suppose...) If the Kakashi from Lineage uses this, it's even more mean. It's like a nuclear bomb, for only two chakra. The only thing that keeps this card from being broken is the fact that it has only one user.

Constructed: 5/5
Limited: 4/5 (Not hard to draft a Kakashi)
Art: Disappointingly lame. The other two SR versions have much better art, but thats just me.
Ryu Juini Lightning Blade (J-US066)

One of the most powerful jutsu in the game, and having the sole user being one of the best jutsu in the game, Lightning Blade is a force to be reckoned with. The ability to get an insanely high pump AND knock a ninja off is powerful. The ability to get a smaller pump and shoot a ninja is powerful, also.

This card has only one downside, which isn't even a downside: it has one user. Luckily that user is an insanely good ninja.

Definitely a top 10.

The First Hokage
Lightning Blade US-066

Today we are taking a look at our #7 card of the 2008 year. This card is none other than Lightning Blade from the Chosen set that came out early in the year.

This card is the best Lightning Blade out there and is a really solid addition to the fire element and it is also a Super Rare to boot. This is why Lightning Blade is good...

First off, Lightning Blade is Fire… Like Fire needs anything more… I swear.
Anyways, Kakashi is the only user, but that doesn’t matter since Fire always runs some form of Kakashi. The Jutsu cost is 1 Fire and 1 of any chakra. This eliminates a lot of possible negation like Gigantic Fan from the picture and it’s also a low costing Jutsu, which allows you chain other things if your opponent does indeed chain to Lightning Blade going off. The effect that Lightning Blade has is just ridiculous. It reads: Target: 1 Ninja Battling Against the User. The effect is: If your opponent has 5 or more battle rewards, discard the target. If your opponent has 4 or less battle rewards, give 1 damage to the target. Additionally, the user gets +X/+X during this turn. X = the number of your opponent’s battle rewards. That’s ridiculous considering Kakashi is a late game ninja and your opponent will more than likely have more than 5 battle rewards if it is a close game. If your opponent does have 5 battle rewards, you discard 1 of their ninjas then get a pump, so in this example Kakashi gets +5/+5, which should more than likely make the battle an outstanding victory so you would potentially kill 2 ninja and leave
1 back ninja injured. This card is definitely a game changer and more than likely a game finisher to boot. I love running at least 1 copy of this card in Mono Fire. The card is still great if your opponent has 4 or less battle rewards, but you won’t get to experience the whole effect.

Overall, this card is amazing if you have Kakashi on your field. However, since its requirement is only Kakashi, it’s situational. And it’s also situational depending on how battle rewards your opponent has. If you do have the requirements and your opponent does have those 5 battle rewards, then this card more than likely will mean game for you in the upcoming few turns.

My ratings:
Constructed: 4.5/5
Limited: 3.5/5
Art: 4.5/5
Mylo Lightning Blade
I cant help but say "Falcon PUNCH!!!" whenever i see this card. Any way, Lightning Blade from set 9 is our # 8 card of 2008. Can only be used by kakashi hatake, which is not that bad. For 1 fire and 1 random chakra, you can discard a ninja if your opponent has 5 or more battle rewards. If they have 4 or less, give 1 damage to that ninja. And regardless of the effect, Kakashi gets +1/+1 for each of your opponent's battle rewards. This card is just amazing. This can cause so many overwhelming victories!

Limited: 3.5/5(one kakashi makes it hard)
Constructed: 4.5/5 My fav lightning blade so far!
The Poo Toucher Today we are reviewing on of the most influential cards of the entire year. Number 7, Lightning Blade from the Chosen (set 9)

Lightning Blade is one of the cards that 08 sanin winner Jerry Balentuangin used to effectively end the reign of over 9000. This card, along with a few others, made people stop using over 9000 (a major achievement as 9K was everywhere for just under 6 months, that's 2 full formats!) That alone makes this a easy choice for the top 10 list.

Lightning Blade is one of the only good cards that is a 1 user jutsu card. For kakashi only, it not only gives 1-2 damage but pumps by 0-9, that's just flat out good. Add to that, it's user is either a turn 5 ninja who upon release wins battle rewards when he wins the fight or is a turn 4 who becomes a 7/4 when his effect triggers. This was also before the OC's, so the big name deck was insanely vulnerable to this jutsu and it's negation can't even touch this jutsu card.

Now this card has seen a considerably less amount of play with the release of Lineage of Legends (set 10) and Sasuke Uchiha Overflowing Chakra, but during it's time, this card was all over the competitive scene. This card has amazing synergy with the ninja dog decks as it gives damage, pumps to outstanding more times than not, and is extremely cost efficient.

It's one true downside is that it's only going to be used by 1 ninja after turn 4, but it's not a bad 1-2 of in the ninja dog archetype.

It's cards like this that tips fire back into the supremacy that it's seemingly maintained competitively during the entire game. I don't mind that fire has it all (great curve, amazing tutors, unbeatable jutsu.) but bandai, I as a lightning player wouldn't mind a might(y) guy jutsu that's on par with this one.

Constructed: 4 out of 5. It's cards like this that make sanin winners :)

Limited: 5 out of 5. AD kakashi is in this set, and it's an uncommon.

Art: 2 out of 5. Not impressed, I liked lol's art much better.

Until next time, truly yours. The Poo Toucher.

Lightning Blade

Welcome Pojo'ers! Today we review Lightning Blade from The Chosen (at least, I assume it's from TC).

Let's see. This card is very situational. HOWEVER, the least it will do is 1 damage for 2 chakra. That's already a plus. Only Kakashi Hatake can use it, and it's targeting 1 ninja battling against the user instead of User. He also gets +x/+x, depending on how many BR's your opponent has on you; 5 or more is a +5/+5 AND discard 1 ninja battling. There isn't much better than that for 2 chakra.

People really like this Lightning Blade more than others; I'm one of them. The others are also just too situational, and your Kakashi can be a back ninja if you play this Lightning Blade.

The downside to this card is, it doesn't really show its true colors unless you're losing the game. It can however turn the tides of the game in your favor.

Also, with Itachi G being T5 now, Kakashi may not be ran in 3's like it used to be. Of course, you could always run Kakashi [Anbu Days] and throw this card into the jutsu pile.

Limited: 1/5 3 Kakashis are in the set, 1 is a reprint super.
Constructed: 3.75/5

7. Lightning Blade

Now here's what a character specific Jutsu should do! This is something I'd like to see other MCs get, like Asuma or The Third Hokage, but still, it's a doozy. It's specific to Kakashi costing one fire and one colorless, and targets one ninja battling him. What it does now depends on the amount of BRs your opponent has taken. If it's four or less, do one damage to the target. If they have taken five or more, you discard the target. And either way, Kakashi gets +X/+X, with X being the battle rewards your opponent has taken.

That is a game changer in just about any situation it goes off. It's almost guaranteed to OV a team, and even if it doesn't, it'll cripple it beyond repair. This card's true power was shown with the last Sannin winner and one other card that we'll be getting to later. This is Kakashi's best Jutst, and if you're running three Kakashi, you should throw at least one of these in your deck. It's a great jutsu to get off, and it's cheap enough to avoid Gig fan, which is still a plus.

I really like this card, and with the new Sannin's card soming out, this card will only get better.

Constructed: 4/5 Good, great, not perfect.
Limited: If you get Kakashi/5 If not, 1/5
Art: 1/5 Boring...boring...boring...

7: Lightning Blade

Okay, in my first review as part of the Naruto CotD staff (yay) it is #7 of the countdown, a card that sent shockwaves through the Chosen when it came out (of course, they weren't as big because, well reprints are fun) and that is Lightning Blade. Now this alone, is probably the best card to come out of the Chosen, reprint or no-reprint, and it's still great today. Now for a Fire and a generic chakra you get two things, if you were stingy and stopped your opponent for a while, you can give 1 damage to a ninja your opponent controls if they have 4 or less Battle Rewards. If you were a little more loose in your blocking, you can discard a ninja, if they have 5 or more BR's. The best part is, Kakashi gains power equal to the amount of BR's your opponent has, both Combat AND Support. That means, Kakashi can sit in the back, his usual spot, and nuke ninjas with ease. The only bad thing, is that only Kakashi can use it. Of course, if you run that fun Suicide Dog deck, it's not too much of a problem. This seems like a good spot for LB and I don't see it going down from the ranks of greatness too soon. I just wish it's art was the LoL art.

Constructed: 4/5
Limited: 2/5 (meh Kakashi's in the Chosen from last memory, have to hope to pull ES)
