Matthew Low I caught a mistake on my rating for tomorrow when I reread my COTD. It's supposed to be 3.4 out of 5.0 for Constructed. I've updated it here:

Thursday 2/12
J-430 Shadow Strangle Jutsu - Earth - Jutsu

Interesting Jutsu with three options, all of which can present to be useful. 0/0? Possible OV potential. MP 0? Ditto, after seeing Shikaku. Standby? Go away chumpblocker, or jutsu fizzle.

Looking at the other past options, both were 2 solid Earth. Both had the same requirements. One could deal damage after making the target 0/0; the other could discard or -3/-3 depending on a coin flip. I'm not a fan of the coin flip, so I would not consider the latter. The first isn't that bad. However, I beg to say that this outshines them all.

The damage could get rid of an injured Ninja, but making a Ninja 0/0 will likely get that Ninja at least injured, if not OVed. Making a jutsu fizzle is great as indirect negation. Three options in a card for Earth and a generic. Not bad.

Where's the problem? The requirements. Unless you want to forgo Formation and Flexbility, you're limited to just Shikaku, which isn't enough IMO. Thinking Mode is a possibility, but Shikaku in multiples means MP deck, and you'd likely want Flexibility, though there is Shikamaru and Temari platoon. I can see this being played, but until there is a Chunin Shikamaru that is worth outshining Formation and Flexbility, I will have a hard time seeing this run this in multiples.

Limited: 1.1 out of 5 - Character specific = bad.
Constructed: 3.4 out of 5 - Great card with limits due to requirements. Though when multiple users pop up worth playing, so will this IMO.
